The Opportunity
We’re seeking an IT Systems Administrator to join our team for a 6-month contract. This role supports and optimizes the organization’s IT infrastructure, ensuring reliable, secure, and high-performing servers, networks, applications, cloud services, and end-user systems. The IT Systems Administrator troubleshoots complex technical issues and contributes to projects that enhance operational efficiency and system performance.
The ideal candidate will bring strong problem-solving and troubleshooting capabilities, paired with excellent communication and customer service skills.
*This is a 6-month contract position and is based on-site in our Kelowna, BC office.
As an IT Systems Administrator, responsibilities include:
- Administer, monitor, and troubleshoot Windows and/or Linux servers, virtualized environments, and core business applications
- Maintain Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and identity access management systems
- Perform routine system maintenance, updates, backups, and patch management
- Monitor and maintain network infrastructure, including switches, firewalls, VPNs, and wireless systems
- Troubleshoot network outages, performance issues, and connectivity problems
- Collaborate with vendors to resolve escalated network or ISP-related issues
- Implement and maintain cybersecurity safeguards, including endpoint protection, MFA, email security, and network security controls
- Support vulnerability management, incident response, and security audits
- Ensure compliance with IT policies, standards, and regulatory requirements
- Support cloud-based platforms (e.g., Microsoft 365, Azure, AWS, Google Workspace).
- Administer user accounts, licensing, and system configurations
- Assist with cloud migrations, integrations, and optimization
- Provide Tier 2/Tier 3 technical support for hardware, software, and network issues
- Participate in after hours emergency support as needed
- Set up and configure laptops, desktops, and mobile devices
- Coordinate with helpdesk or service desks for escalations and ticket resolution
- Participate in IT infrastructure upgrades, hardware refreshes, and new technology deployments
- Document system configurations, procedures, and knowledge-base articles
- Contribute to long-term planning for IT improvements and scalability
What You Bring
Candidate Must Have’s
- Diploma or Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Systems Administration, or related field
- 3-5 years of experience in systems or network administration
- Strong knowledge of Windows Server, Linux (optional), virtualization (VMware/Hyper-V), and networking fundamentals
- Experience with Microsoft 365/O365 administration and cloud platforms
- Familiarity with cybersecurity tools, monitoring systems, and backup solutions
- Experience with networking protocols (BGP, DHCP, DNS, VPN, NAT)
- Experience with network equipment (Firewalls, Switches, Routers)

The hourly salary range for this role is $34.00 to $38.00 per hour CAD. Compensation is based on the skills, knowledge, experience, and qualifications brought to the role.
