Role:
Reporting directly to the Director, the Human Resources Manager is the key contact for the plant operations team and for overseeing all staff and personnel matters pertaining to recruitment and selection, conditions of employment, staff training, absenteeism control programs, employee concerns and grievance as well as other administrative tasks. He/she also provides advice and support to Management to ensure compliance with employment and labour laws.
Responsibilities
- As a true generalist the manager will oversee the recruitment process, including interviews, orientation, and the setting up of new plant employees when required.
- Provide HR support to Plant Management Team
- Preparation and delivery of various training presentations as required.
- Monitors, supports, and administers progressive discipline program as required.
- Support in monitoring and maintaining attendance program, preparing letters etc.
- Implements HR strategies and initiatives aligned with Company objectives.
- Administers implementation plans in the areas of talent management, employee relations and employee engagement.
- Ensures all job descriptions are kept up-to-date, accurate and compliant with relevant laws/regulations for all positions.
- Analyzes staffing logistics and organizes documentation.
- Assists managers and employees to effectively apply HR policies and programs to ensure consistency in interpretation and application.
- Work closely with the Plant management team to ensure compliance with collective agreement and company policies.
- Work with the union and management, to assist and support employees with concerns/grievances.
- Ensures consistency of HR policies and procedures.
- Support OH& S and HR coordinator when required
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Post-Secondary diploma in Human Resources, or business or related field preferable.
- Minimum 2 years of related experience, preferred in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong understanding of Employment Standards and labour laws.
- Previous experience in unionized work environment, negotiation, grievance and investigation process.
- Previous experience with OH&S and claims management preferred
- High sense of urgency, well organized and able to prioritize effectively.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal skills.
- Highly proficient computer skills, e.g., Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook.
- Must be able to work flexible hours, when required.
- Previous experience with Ceridian/Dayforce.
- Works well on own and in a team environment

Please note that the expected new hire salary range provided is derived from a group of like roles within Sunrise Farms. The final offer amount for this role will be dependent on geographical region, applicable experience, and skillset of the candidate.
