Working closely with the Senior HR Management to provide services for the designated divisions, the HR Generalist will perform professional level human resources duties in the following functional areas: benefits administration, employee relations, training, performance management, onboarding, policy implementation, recruitment/employment, diversity and inclusion, affirmative action and employment compliance. 
 
Position: Full-Time, Permanent
Salary: Between $65,000-$75,000 per year, plus bonus and other compensations.
Location: Richmond, BC. 5 days in office.
Essential Functions:

  • Acts as a liaison between HR Shared Services and the division, understanding and supporting business needs.

  • Manages workforce planning and oversees internal posting/offer processes.

  • Coordinates and participates in various HR events, including training, wellness, and orientation.

  • Handles biweekly payroll and onboarding processes for new employees from offer through 90 days.

  • Educates leadership on Performance Management and provides basic employee relations coaching.

  • Assists in local sourcing and retention efforts, attending job fairs and partnering with community organizations.

  • Plans and supports benefits enrollment, educating employees on retirement plans and wellness initiatives.

  • Supports Workers Compensation, disability, and leave administration, serving as a point of contact.

  • Interprets HR metrics and provides insights on turnover, new hires, diversity, and other metrics.

  • Manages administrative functions, including processing unemployment claims and new hires.

  • Evaluates and processes third-party vendor bills for payment.

  • Administers off-boarding processes, including paperwork, retirement information, and departure surveys.

  • Performs other assigned duties.

Requirements:

  • Must have at least 2 years of Human Resources Experience, preferably in a food manufacturing environment.

  • Bachelor’s degree with an emphasis in Human Resources preferred.

  • Excellent communication, presentation skills and problem solving skills.  

  • Thorough understanding of GFS culture, policies and employment-related laws, and regulations.

  • Knowledge of current trends and developments in the field.

  • Ability to develop solutions to a variety of problems of moderate scope and complexity.  Refers to policies and practices for guidance. 

  • Knowledge of Google Suite, Workday, and UKG/Kronos, are assets.

  • Fluency in a second language (such as Punjabi, Hindi, or Tagalog) is considered a strong asset.
