The Opportunity
We are seeking a proactive and ambitious HR Business Partner (HRBP) Intern to join our People & Culture team for the Fall 2025 term. This is a unique opportunity to provide critical support to our rapidly growing Engineering organization. You will be immersed in both the strategic and operational aspects of People Operations, allowing you to gain invaluable experience in a dynamic tech environment. Your work will directly contribute to building scalable processes and programs that fuel the success of our technology and product teams.

What You'll Do
You will be responsible for a core project focused on talent strategy, supplemented by key HR operational tasks.

Core Project: Skill Gap Analysis & Internal Mobility Mapping
Your primary goal will be to finalize our Technology Competency Matrix & Career Pathways, providing our teams with a clear vision for growth and development.

  • Analyze & Strategize: Partner with the HRBP and tech leadership to inventory the current skills across our engineering teams. You'll meet with the CPTO and VP, Engineering, to understand the company's long-term vision and map our current talent against the skills needed for future projects.
  • Build the Framework: Finalize the Technology Competency Matrix and design clear, actionable Career Pathways for our tech and product teams.
  • Innovate with AI: Research and develop a plan to leverage AI tools for disseminating information about career paths and maintaining ongoing updates to the skills matrix.
  • Enhance Performance Management: Audit the "Career Planning" conversations from our recent Performance Management Process (PMP) cycles. You will identify opportunities to upskill managers and team members to ensure everyone benefits from meaningful, forward-looking career conversations.
  • Enable Our Leaders: Create a methodology, communication plan, and tools to support managers in career coaching. Your work will empower them to have impactful development discussions with their teams.

HR Operations & Support

  • Assist with the preparation of employment letters, confirmation letters, and other HR-related documentation.
  • Support with employee data changes and ensure data integrity within our HRIS (Workday).
  • Generate ad-hoc reports and analyze people data to support HRBP initiatives.
  • Provide generalist support to the People & Culture team as needed.

What You’ll Achieve (Key Deliverables)

  • A comprehensive Skills Matrix or dashboard that provides a clear view of strengths and skill gaps across the engineering organization.
  • A data-driven report identifying key areas for training and development investment, directly influencing our learning strategy.
  • A directory of internal "Subject Matter Experts" (SMEs) to foster mentorship and knowledge sharing.
  • A tangible improvement in the quality of career development conversations, driven by your tools and manager upskilling programs.
