Job Summary:

The candidate will join and lead a team responsible for the development of Safe Fleet’s Passenger Transportation Digital Video Recorders.The Project Manager is responsible for continuing the H-Series of Digital Video Recorders that record and store audio/video/telemetry evidence from a wide range of cameras, sensors, and the vehicle itself. 

In this role, you will be influencing Safe Fleet’s Passenger Transportation direction as we implement industry first features that maintain our competitive market-leading solutions.The position involves using hardware and software development tools and other related applications to manage, design, develop, and document existing and new electronic, electrical, and electro-mechanical products to be used in Safe Fleet's Public Transit and Waste Management division.This is a wide-ranging role requiring a person to have experience in all areas of product development.

Responsibilities:


  • Advance Hardware projects from ideation through development to mass production release
  • Manage, delegate, and participate in Hardware design, development, verification, compliance, and field trials 
  • Generate and track project schedules, costing, resourcing needs
  • Collaborate with Product Management as well as Engineers, Technologists to develop products and maintain existing products
  • Interface with Engineering, Operations, and Product Management to document requirements, providing back timely project status updates
  • Work with Operations to transfer product knowledge for new products, cooperate on incoming inspection procedures as well as implement Engineering Change orders for existing products
  • Work hands-on on your project to evaluate vendor deliverables, verify new products, systems, and solutions.
  • Support Service and Deployment Teams to remotely diagnose, debug, and resolve field issues as they arise
  • Follow Engineering Document Control Standards, as well as Engineering Workplace standards
  • Represent the Company to establish and maintain strong business/technical relationships with partners and suppliers
  • Monitor project hardware scope and risks; make trade-off decisions and proposals where needed
  • Conduct quality reviews throughout the design process to ensure the product proposals meet the requirements of all applicable standards to satisfy the project requirements
  • Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.


 Salary: $85,000 to $110,000 Per year

Requirements

  • Post-secondary degree in Electrical/Electrical Engineering or Equivalent.
  • 5+ years of experience in all aspects of hardware design
  • Experienced in design for compliance to industrial automotive, safety, and EMC standards
  • Experienced in the design of automotive electronic systems using embedded microprocessors
  • Experienced in the design of battery powered portable devices
  • Understanding of RF/UHF technologies used in 802.11, BLE, and RFID
  • Excellent diagnostic, debug, and troubleshooting skills using standard lab/bench equipment
  • Strong hands-on skills to set up and conduct design verification tests
  • Comfortable working consistently with remote and offshore teams outside of normal office hours
  • Familiarity with Linux, Android and Windows Operating Systems
  • Experience with Cellular Network Certification desired.
