We are now preparing for upcoming greenlit projects and are seeking talented Environment Designers to join our Visual Development team. This is an exciting opportunity to express your interest in future roles and be part of Bardel's ongoing creative journey. As a Visual Development Environment Designer at Bardel, you will collaborate closely with the Head of Visual Development to conceptualize key environments and pivotal scenes. Your work will help establish the visual style, tone, and atmosphere of the production, bringing worlds to life.

What you’ll be doing: 

  • Develop key environments across a variety of styles, focusing on form, composition, and rendering techniques.
  • Create lighting studies and examples based on CG renders to define the mood and ambiance of the environments.
  • Provide detailed paintovers to support the modeling and surfacing teams, ensuring the seamless transition from concept to final production.
  • Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including artists, modelers, and technical departments, fostering a positive and creative environment.
  • Communicate and present ideas clearly, both visually and verbally, to ensure alignment with the overall vision of the project.
  • Adapt to feedback and iterate on designs while maintaining a problem-solving mindset and contributing to collective brainstorming sessions.
  • Demonstrate strong time management and organizational skills, working efficiently within deadlines while maintaining high standards of quality.

 

What you’ll bring: 

  • 2+ years of environment designing experience on animated production. 
  • Familiar with 3D animation pipelines. 
  • Ability to organize and manage time effectively to meet deadlines. 
  • Ability to communicate in a professional and positive manner. 
  • Strong drawing skills and sense of design, character, and composition. 
  • Photoshop experience required; Maya, Blender, Shotgrid familiarity a plus.
