We are hiring Engineering Managers for the following teams:🔐 Password Manager
The Password Manager group defines the core user experience of 1Password — it’s the team that builds and scales the features our customers interact with every day. From storing and autofilling credentials to improving how users organize, share, and secure their most sensitive information, this team ensures 1Password remains intuitive, fast, and trustworthy. As adoption grows, we are focused on solving complex technical and design challenges at scale, driving innovation that empowers millions of users globally.
🕸️ Web Engineering
The Web Engineering team shapes how the world experiences 1Password online. They own several of our most visible touchpoints, including 1password.com, our blog, and other external-facing pages. Their work is critical in how we present ourselves to customers, the industry, and potential employees, and plays a key role in our customer funnel where users learn about and sign up for 1Password. The team ensures our site reflects our latest product strategy and philosophy, from showcasing new features to sharing our perspective on topics like security in Agentic AI. They partner closely with comms, marketing, and leaders of major external facing initiatives. We are looking for an engineering manager who can set a clear vision in collaboration with partners, navigate high expectations from leadership, guide key technical decisions, and help the team prioritize across multiple areas of impact.
🆔 Unified Identity
The Unified Identity team is building the next-generation identity infrastructure that will power secure, frictionless access across 1Password’s ecosystem. This team is at the forefront of our Extended Access Management strategy, responsible for centralizing how identities are managed, authenticated, and authorized — all while preserving user privacy and strong cryptographic guarantees. We are solving complex problems around key management, federation protocols, lifecycle management, and interoperability at scale, laying the foundation for future product innovation.
🌀Access Governance (Trelica by 1Password)
The SaaS Management team, part of the Access Governance group, is contributing to a platform that enables companies to transition shadow IT apps from unknown and unmanaged to fully managed and secure.Acquired by 1Password in early 2025, Trelica’s technology platform and teams now help us advance our Extended Access Management strategy - helping organizations navigate the complexities of modern work with tools that empower employees to be productive, strengthen security, and foster trust in a rapidly evolving digital landscape. We're delivering critical parts of this vision, building with sustainability and adaptability at the forefront. We've recently grown this team and are continuing to evolve our ways of working and technical platform, while protecting what makes this group so successful in fostering that start-up spirit.
This is a remote opportunity within Canada and the US.
What we're looking for:
3+ years of experience managing software engineering teams, delivering measurable results at scale.
Strong technical background and ability to guide architecture, technical direction, and decisions.
Track record of delivering large, complex, cross-functional projects on time.
Ability to recruit, hire, and retain exceptional engineering talent.
Ability to create and maintain an inclusive, high-performing, and engaged team environment.
Ability to navigate ambiguity, make decisions quickly, and take accountability for outcomes.
Experience managing remote, distributed teams effectively.
For Password Manager: Experience in SaaS B2B, end-user product development, or delivering polished, high-quality user experiences.
For Enterprise Ready: Experience building scalable B2B backend services, infrastructure, or platforms that enable enterprise administration at scale.
For Unified Identity: Background in identity and access management (IAM), security or cryptography, and familiarity with federation protocols (OAuth2, OIDC, SAML).
For Access Governance: Experience in SaaS B2B or full-stack product development; familiarity with leading engineering teams in periods of change and start-up/scale-up seasons
For any team: Experience scaling backend infrastructure, managing distributed systems, or working in privacy-first environments.
What you’ll do
Lead, develop, and support a team of engineers, focusing on performance management, coaching, career growth, and creating a high-performing, inclusive team environment.
Define and drive clear, outcome-oriented strategy aligned with company objectives.
Ensure teams ship high-quality work at a healthy, sustainable pace.

Refine team structure, processes, and practices to support growth and evolving needs.
USA-based roles only: The annual base salary for this role is between $190,000 USD and $258,000 USD, plus immediate participation in 1Password's benefits program (health, dental, 401k and many others), utilization of our generous paid time off, an equity grant and, where applicable, participation in our incentive programs.
Canada-based roles only: The annual base salary for this role is between $172,000 CAD and $232,000 CAD, plus immediate participation in 1Password’s generous benefits program (health, dental, RRSP and many others), utilization of our generous paid time off, an equity grant and, where applicable, participation in our incentive programs.
