Sedgman is currently looking for an Electrical Engineer to join our team in our Vancouver, BC office. 

This individual will be responsible for the electrical engineering and design LV and MV power systems on our mining projects. The engineer may act as a project lead engineer, which may require overseeing other junior members of the team. The ideal incumbent will be a mentor and coach to a young and enthusiastic team.

What does this role involve? Key responsibilities:

  • Perform electrical engineering design for mineral processing projects and associated infrastructure. (may include: industrial processing, precious metals/iron ore plants, as well as associated services). 

  • Prepare electrical equipment specifications, datasheets, estimates, and scope of work, ensuring compliance with engineering standards. 

  • Develop proposals, conceptual designs for Pre-feasibility, Feasibility and Detail engineering phases of projects.

  • Work across a continuous succession of small and large, domestic and international projects as they progress through the project lifecycle - from early concept development, feasibility studies, detailed design, construction, commissioning to operations  

  • Liaise with internal and external clients, other discipline professionals, vendors, and stakeholders within the industry to ensure the timely, accurate and cost-effective delivery of projects. 

  • Demonstrate high standard of personal safety and safety in design practices. 

 

What are we looking for?

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering

  • Will have 5 – 7 years of relevant experience as an electrical engineer, with MV and LV power distribution systems 

  • Will be a registered engineer with EGBC; an asset if a registered engineer from other parts of Canada or the United States.

  • Solid knowledge of industry, as well as Canadian regulatory codes and standards  

  • Experience in an engineering design/consultancy environment is preferred; previous experience in an industrial processing (oil & gas, pulp & paper, chemical), electric utility, and/or mining and metals environment is considered an asset

  • Proficiency with instrumentation and control systems in industrial applications. 

  • Ability to safely and effectively self-manage time, priorities and activities

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Strong organizational skills, technical competence and attention to detail 

  • Must be eligible to work in Canada without sponsorship

Salary Range: $105,000-135,000

 

The salary offered, to the person selected for this position, will take into account education, relevant experience, skills & abilities, geographic location and market conditions at the time of hiring.
