Four Seasons Resort and Residences Whistler is seeking an experienced Director of Public Relations and Communications to cover a 12-month Maternity Leave beginning June 1st, 2025. The Director of Public Relations and Communications will lead and execute a strategic, integrated marketing and communications plan that elevates the resort’s global reputation and drives business growth.

About the role

This role is instrumental in increasing awareness and shaping the perception of Whistler’s premier luxury mountain retreat, including its prestigious culinary offerings, award-winning spa and wellness, exclusive private residences, and immersive mountain lifestyle experiences.

The Director will be responsible for overseeing Public Relations, Digital Media, Social Media, and Marketing Communications strategies, ensuring alignment with Four Seasons' brand positioning. Through innovative storytelling and strategic partnerships, this individual will enhance the resort’s presence across key media and digital channels while driving guest engagement and revenue.

As a key brand ambassador, the Director will represent Four Seasons Whistler in media and industry activations, cultivate relationships with journalists and influencers, and secure top-tier coverage across travel, luxury, and lifestyle publications.

Reporting to the Commercial Director, this role will lead a dynamic team, including a Digital Marketing Executive and Public Relations coordinator, ensuring a cohesive and results-driven communications strategy.

What you will do

Public Relations and Communications

  • Develop and execute a year-round, integrated Public Relations and Communications Plan aligned with business objectives and brand positioning.
  • Drive media relations by identifying target publications, pitching compelling storylines, securing media coverage, and coordinating press visits.
  • Oversee the development and distribution of press releases, ensuring engagement on the Four Seasons Press Room and other media platforms.
  • Maintain a high-quality image and video library that showcases the resort and its offerings.
  • Lead the creation of story starters and team bios to generate engagement and enhance media outreach.
  • Proactively develop unique resort, culinary, and destination experiences to strengthen Four Seasons Whistler’s positioning, including strategic brand collaborations.
  • Execute PR strategies for Food & Beverage outlets, ensuring maximum exposure for the resort’s F&B activations
  • Represent the Public Relations and Communications team in resort meetings and key industry events.
  • Engage with Tourism Whistler, Destination Canada, and other tourism boards to drive awareness and collaboration.
  • Monitor and analyze PR performance metrics and provide strategic recommendations for continuous improvement.
  • Benchmark the resort’s media positioning against local, national, and global luxury competitors to identify new opportunities.

Brand Management

  • Ensure brand consistency across all visual and written communications.
  • Oversee the design and production of resort marketing collateral, seasonal brochures, and promotional materials.
  • Co-manage photo and video shoots, ensuring assets align with brand storytelling.
  • Support Sales, Catering, and Reservations teams by auditing sales materials and ensuring alignment with the resort’s positioning.

Digital Marketing & Social Media

  • Lead and direct the Digital Coordinator in executing content strategies across social and digital platforms.
  • Oversee the hotel’s digital communications strategy, ensuring it supports PR and business objectives.
  • Drive engagement through innovative content creation, influencer partnerships, and digital storytelling.
  • Social media campaigns and strategies
  • Support in paid media, SEO and organic strategies.

What you bring

  • Minimum 3 years of leadership experience in PR, communications, or digital marketing, preferably within luxury hospitality, travel, or lifestyle industries.
  • Exceptional storytelling, writing, and presentation skills with a creative, brand-centric approach.
  • Leadership skills
  • Strong media relations experience, with an established network in travel, luxury, and lifestyle media.
  • A keen eye for aesthetics, ensuring high-quality content creation.
  • Ability to source and execute on-brand activations and collaborations, particularly in the culinary, wellness, and adventure tourism space.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Experience managing third-party agencies, influencers, and vendors.
  • Paid media and SEO background is a preference

What we offer:

Salary Range: $75,000-$85,000

Schedule & Hours:

As our hotel is open 24/7, 365 days a year, we expect our Director of Public Relations and Communications to be flexible in working mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
