The Payroll Director provides leadership and mentors the payroll team in North America while driving the ability of these areas to provide a high level of customer service to our internal Creation teams. This leader will ensure compliance with regulations, and pay our employees timely, accurately and efficient manner. This role is responsible for driving efficiencies through streamlining processes and executing automation projects to free up the team to perform other value-added work.
This role is hybrid and requires being in the Vancouver office one day per week.
Responsibilities
- Ensure payroll is processed timely and accurately
- Manage all payroll activities in accordance with federal, provincial, state statutory regulations, as well as company standards and internal controls
- Ensures the Team is consistently maintaining excellent customer service with team members and external parties
- Enhance monthly reporting of payroll, benefits and headcount information
- Review existing payroll processes and implement best-in-class payroll processes and procedures across the entire organization
- Perform analysis, generate reports and assist the P&C and Finance team with special projects
- Prepare payroll related journal entries at month-end and year-end
- Manage any payroll/benefits audits
- Support the year-end financial audit
- Support annual bonus calculations and payment process
- Ensure benefits are paid timely and accurately
- Manage the reporting of payroll information for transfer pricing calculations, or information for the budgeting process
Qualifications
- 10+ years of payroll experience required
- 5 years of supervisory experience managing payroll function and a team
- Ability to navigate a complex business environment, with experience driving processing efficiencies
- Workday experience strongly preferred
- Proficient knowledge and experience with both Canadian and US payroll including payroll processing, taxes, provincial, federal and state regulations, and year-end
- International payroll experience an asset
- Accounting or Payroll designation preferred
- Ability to communicate effectively and build relationships with different stakeholders
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
- Attention to detail, excellent accuracy, strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Proficient knowledge with both Canadian and US
- Good working knowledge of Excel

In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the anticipated starting pay for new hires for this position is between $140,000 - $180,000 CAD and $125,000-$150,000 US per year. Full-time employees are also eligible for performance-based bonuses and benefits. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as a final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience, education, location, and shift. The specific programs and options available to an employee may vary depending on the date of hire, schedule type, and hours worked.
