ERM is seeking an energetic and knowledgeable Consultant, Climate Change to join our growing corporate sustainability and climate change advisory services practice. The person will report to a Principal Consultant in Vancouver, BC but the role is hybrid/remote and locations in Canada are being considered.
In this role, you will be a key contributor to a team developing and growing ERM’s corporate sustainability and climate change business. ERM delivers a wide range of climate change services including strategy development, greenhouse gas and air emissions inventories, policy and regulatory analysis, and lifecycle assessment. We help clients, including global companies, and midstream oil and gas companies, develop and implement climate change programs across a range of industry sectors.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced professional looking to play a key role working with an expert consulting team on leading-edge climate advisory projects for Fortune 500 and privately held clients.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Managing Clients and Projects

Demonstrates expertise in the evaluation of oil and gas, chemical and/or other industrial processes to evaluate GHG emissions.

Supports climate-related projects including the design and development of GHG and air emissions inventories and analysis of emission reduction levers (e.g. energy efficiency measures, methane mitigation, renewable energy, decarbonized fuels).

Demonstrates strong understanding of life cycle assessment methodologies and tools.

Thinks strategically in order to influence decision-makers and outcomes.

Expertise in diversified energy, decarbonization, or air and climate regulation. (preferred)

Distills complexity from detail to effectively coach colleagues to deliver high-quality outputs.

Demonstrates strong project management skills and oversight through the project lifecycle, including scoping, workstream and team management, budget and delivery.

Demonstrates strong analytical skills, excellent writing and presentation skills, and a mastery of client communication.

Business Development Activities

Supports new business development campaigns and proposals.
REQUIREMENTS:
-
Bachelor’s degree required, with Master’s degree (preferred) in policy, law, economics, engineering, or basic/applied science (such as physics, chemistry, material sciences, environmental science, earth sciences, etc.) or equivalent experience.

3-5 years of relevant work experience in a related field, such as consultancy, private sector (diversified energy, hydrogen, sustainable aviation fuels/biofuels, decarbonization, etc.), or environmental policy.

A thorough understanding of technical, economic, policy and market challenges and opportunities associated with the low carbon energy transition.

Strong analytical skills, ability to think strategically, analyze and synthesize diverse qualitative and quantitative data and information.

Attention to detail and commitment to deliver high-quality work products.

Demonstrated project management and leadership skills.

Structured and effective communicator that can shape and deliver messages to executive level and facilitate effective client engagements.

Enthusiasm, initiative, flexibility, and a desire to work in a growing team.

Ability to work well with a range of stakeholders, including diverse project teams and client contacts.

High level proficiency in use of Microsoft Office programs—comfort with complicated Excel formulas, pivot tables, etc., plus ability to present information succinctly and visually in PowerPoint; sophisticated data analysis a plus.
For the Consultant, Climate Change (Mid-Level) position, we anticipate the annual base pay of $77,974 - $86,543 CAD. An employee’s pay position within this range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, performance, shift, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics, and business or organizational needs. We also may have instances where employee’s fall outside of the range based on the factors noted above. This job may be eligible for bonus pay (casual and fixed term/flex force employees are NOT bonus eligible).
