As a Designer 2 at Arc’teryx, you design, build, and validate compelling product solutions that are aligned with Arc’teryx design philosophies. You have an opportunity to engage with a global team of athletes and ambassadors to both identify new product needs and validate your design solutions. In collaboration with our Advanced Concepts team, you take part in the creation of new innovative parts, concepts and technology platforms employing the principles of product circularity to evolve the way we create and manufacture products and minimize our environmental footprint in the world.

The Hardgoods and Accessories design team work together on a wide variety of product categories covering packs, accessories, harnesses and gloves to support all of our activity collections. We are builders, problem solvers and passionate outdoor enthusiasts. Fueled by curiosity, we take an immersive approach to identifying future needs then build, test, and validate products that solve for real functional challenges. We are innovative problem solvers with a focus on collaborative teamwork.
If you were the Designer for Bags, Packs and Gloves now, here are some of the core activities you would be doing:
- Creating innovative Bags, Packs and Gloves, Packs and Gloves concepts to address the needs of our athletes and guests
- Working with Arc’teryx athletes, ambassadors and other industry representatives to generate insights that ensure Arc’teryx product is exceeding our customers evolving needs
- Collaborating with other designers and activity experts to identify new opportunities in our Bags, Packs and Gloves product ranges
- Partnering with Design Developers to create patterns, mock ups, and prototypes that explore, resolve, or prove new concepts or construction techniques
- Working closely with Product Developers to document and develop resolved concepts with our factory partners
- Presenting at design reviews and seasonal stage gates, annual seasonal handoffs and other product meetings
- Contributing to the commercialization of innovative technologies, including materials, pattern/part shaping and construction techniques
Here are some of the things you could be working on in the future:
- Working closely with Design leadership and our Merchandising team to craft a strategic plan for Bags, Packs and Gloves at Arc’teryx
- Collaborating with our Advanced Concepts team to integrate new technologies into product concepts
- Working closely with our development teams and innovation partnerships to challenge and evolve the way we bring innovative ideas to production
Are you our next Designer for Hardgoods and Accessories?
- You have a Degree in Design (Industrial or Apparel), or Textile Engineering
- You have 5+ years’ hands-on experience designing accessories or packs and bags
- You have hands-on experience coming up with tools and methods to assist in solving construction issues
- You have technical and creative skills to pattern and prototype
- You have strong planning, organizational, problem solving and decision-making skills
- You are entrepreneurial and innovative
- You have excellent communication skills
- You have excellent time management skills
- You are proactive in identifying the root cause of issues and developing solutions
- You remain highly flexible and adaptable when faced with ambiguity
- You effectively balance autonomy and collaboration

Arc’teryx is a global design company based in North Vancouver, B.C. that specializes in technical high-performance outerwear and equipment. We design and manufacture a wide range of mountain sports outdoor apparel and equipment for all conditions and experiences, including mountaineering, ice and rock climbing, skiing, snowboarding, and trail running.
