Actuarial / Co-op Student / Telecommuting / Vancouver / Toronto /4-month term/ 8-month term / Starting May 2025

iA Dealer Services and iA Special Markets are currently looking for motivated and detail-oriented Actuarial Co-op Students to join their close-knit team for the Summer and Fall terms (8 months). In Dealer Services, you would be supporting the Corporate Actuarial and/or Pricing & Data Analytics team(s) by providing technical support while at the same time getting exposure to diverse projects. In Special Markets, your main duty would be to handle the financial reporting task (month-end/quarter-end). 

Here’s how you can develop your skills with us: 

1. Involvement in month-end/quarter-end valuation: 

  • Starting reserves runs 
  • Updating spreadsheets for drivers of earnings (DOE) and gains and losses analyses 
  • Actuarial analyses as required 

 
2. Special projects: 

  • Profitability studies to determine trends as required 
  • Other projects as needed 

 
3. Support of actuarial functions: 

  • Design and complete surveys as required 
  • Assisting with the production of various reports by assembling the required information 
  • Assisting actuarial analysts/advisors in a support role as required 
  • Data requests from various members of the Actuarial team as required 

 
You’re the person we’re looking for if:  

  • You are currently in the process of obtaining an undergraduate degree in actuarial science; 
  • You are comfortable manipulating large data sets (including SQL) and you are highly proficient with numbers; 
  • You are skilled in working with Excel, Access, Python and R software (GLMs, tidyverse) and you have previous office experience; 
  • You can follow established procedures and work in a fast-paced environment; 
  • You have an exceptional attention to detail; 
  • You have exceptional verbal and written communication skills; 
  • Asset: you know IFRS 17 and/or AXIS; 
  • You are available full time for 8 months, starting September 2024.

The typical hiring range for this position is 27,50$ to 30,50$ CAD per hour; The base salary offered may vary depending one the knowledge, skills, years of experience and internal equity related to the position.
