About The Role
The Actuarial Analyst role is focused on leading the review, analysis, and reporting of employee benefit plans. This role requires advanced analytical expertise, strategic thinking, and a commitment to service excellence. As a key member of the National Accounts Team, you’ll work with large organizations across Canada, delivering innovative insights, mentoring junior analysts, and contributing to the success of our client solutions.
 

What You’ll Do

  • Provide direct day-to-day problem-solving support for clients in relation to their group benefits programs.

  • Support the lead consultant in managing projects, conducting or directing research, and drawing meaningful conclusions from client and market data.

  • Prepare client-facing reports, including renewals, actuarial valuations, financial statements, marketing analyses, and plan design, ensuring accuracy and alignment with reporting standards.

  • Data review, assumption setting, and reporting writing for actuarial valuations.

  • Employ actuarial techniques to perform valuation modelling of long-term disability plans, retiree group benefit plans, and post-employment obligations.

  • Assist in marketing initiatives by preparing and submitting specifications to insurance carriers, addressing queries, and providing technical analysis.

  • Analyze and interpret data, produce experience reports, and present renewal insights to clients, offering actionable recommendations.

  • Review insurance contracts and financial statements.

  • Conduct industry research to identify emerging trends and their implications for client benefit plans.

What You’ll Need for Success

  • Post-secondary education in mathematics, statistics, actuarial science, or a related discipline. Progress towards an actuarial designation is a strong asset.

  • 1-2 years of professional experience as an analyst or in a corporate setting, with actuarial analysis and/or employee benefits consulting experience being an asset.

  • Exceptional analytical skills with the ability to synthesize complex data into clear and actionable insights.

  • Effective time management, prioritization, and the ability to manage multiple high-stakes projects simultaneously.

  • A strong team player with demonstrated leadership capabilities and the ability to work independently.

  • Outstanding organizational skills with a keen eye for detail and accuracy.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present findings to clients and stakeholders.

  • Proficiency in relevant tools and software, including Excel and actuarial modelling programs.

  • A proactive mindset with the ability to exercise initiative and drive projects to completion.

  • Completion of at least 2 SOA exams, or working towards completion of ASA/ACIA designation

  • LLQP certification is considered an asset; candidates without it must be willing to complete it within the first year of employment.

Compensation

The expected salary range for this position is $55,000 - $65,000 and will be impacted by factors such as the successful candidate’s skills, experience and working location, as well as the specific position’s business line, scope and level.
HUB International is proud to offer comprehensive benefit and total compensation packages which could include extended health benefits, disability insurance, RRSP matching, paid-time-off benefits, and eligible bonuses, and commissions for some positions.
