Own the strategy and roadmap for Xero’s merchant and transaction payments-risk capabilities. Build scalable systems for KYB/KYC, underwriting, fraud detection, monitoring, disputes, chargebacks, reserves, holds, payout risk, and loss management. Partner with Engineering, Data, Risk, Compliance, and Operations to translate policy into product controls, decisioning workflows, and customer experiences. Use risk and loss data to balance fraud prevention, financial exposure, conversion, friction, and operating costs across processors, payment methods, and markets.

Lead the design, delivery, and operation of agentic AI workflows and applications from discovery through production. Partner with business teams to automate complex workflows, integrate AI with enterprise platforms, and establish reusable patterns, guardrails, evaluation frameworks, and monitoring. Collaborate with product owners and subject-matter experts, translate business needs into technical solutions, and coach teams to improve AI fluency and adoption.

Engineer AI-enabled automation, integrations, workflows, and guardrails across Xero’s Atlassian, Google Workspace, Slack, and internal AI ecosystem. Own production systems, solve complex technical challenges, improve reliability, contribute to architecture and engineering standards, maintain documentation, and support or mentor teammates. The role requires hands-on scripting, API and integration design, cloud productivity systems expertise, security awareness, and strong communication in a hybrid Vancouver-based team.
