Teams at Spare

Build relationships with public transit agencies, identify business opportunities, collaborate with account executives and selling teams, educate prospects on Spare’s solutions, represent the company at industry events, and provide market insights to sales, marketing, and product teams. The hybrid role is based in Vancouver and requires travel within Canada and the United States two to four times annually.

Leads the Infrastructure Platform Team while splitting time between hands-on engineering and people leadership. Responsibilities include designing scalable distributed systems on GCP and Kubernetes, operating Redis and PostgreSQL, improving reliability and security, managing SRE on-call practices, driving FinOps and cloud cost optimization, applying AI agentic tooling, mentoring developers, and maintaining 99.99% uptime.

Build and extend Spare’s shared design system and frontend foundations for complex, data-dense transit interfaces. Responsibilities include developing accessible and performant React interfaces, refactoring frontend code, designing reusable components and APIs, documenting patterns, supporting adoption across engineering teams, and collaborating with product and design. The role also involves cross-stack feature ownership, improving AI-assisted development guardrails, and addressing usability details such as keyboard behavior and operationally loaded screens.
