Teams at Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL)

Lead complex VHDL and Verilog RTL digital logic projects for FPGA-based communications and critical infrastructure products. Develop design documentation, specifications, verification test plans, test harnesses, and stimulus; conduct peer reviews; estimate project effort; and collaborate with product managers and cross-functional engineering teams. The role also requires FPGA firmware development, simulation, synthesis, timing analysis, networking protocol knowledge, technical leadership, mentoring, and support for reliable electric power systems.

Leads automation project engineering from planning and design through testing and commissioning. Designs control logic, network configurations, HMI and SCADA integrations, controller configurations, and technical specifications. Acts as a customer-facing technical lead, researches equipment and emerging technologies, oversees schedules and deliverables, reviews quality, supports field safety and commissioning, and mentors project engineers. Requires power-system drawings, communication protocols, SCADA, HMI, and OT networking expertise, with at least 25% domestic and international travel.
