What's It Like to Work at Enova?

Enova Employee Perspectives

What drew you back to Enova?

I maintained a strong relationship with my former manager at Enova, and we had planned to catch up over lunch. Coincidentally, our meeting occurred at the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic in the United States, just as my current company was preparing for layoffs.

I discussed this situation with my former manager, who reassured me that I was welcome back at Enova, but wasn’t pushy. By the end of that week, I had received a job offer to return. Returning to Enova has turned out to be the best decision I could have made.

Since returning, what are you most excited to have back in your professional life?

Since returning to Enova, what excites me most is having a leadership team genuinely invested in my career and aspirations. While I appreciate the work-life balance and perks such as sabbaticals and summer Fridays, what truly energizes me is the opportunity to collaborate with my manager on crafting a personalized career roadmap aligned with my goals.

What advice would you offer to leaders who wish to create the type of workplace that draws former employees back?

While my manager at Enova was disappointed I decided to leave, he was extremely supportive. He understood my desire to explore new opportunities and ensured that our professional relationship remained positive.

I believe a truly great workplace is characterized by supportive leaders who empower employees to make decisions, embrace both successes and failures and foster an environment where individuals can grow and thrive.

What is your role, and what attracted you to Enova? Describe the moment when you knew you’d found the right fit.

I’m a technology manager at Enova, managing tech teams focused on creating, enhancing and supporting our various loan products and offerings. When I started with Enova 11 years ago, the things that attracted me the most were the company’s focus on its people, a culture that supported inclusion and growth, as well as the tech stack. The entire recruiting process was very smooth and filled with opportunities to connect with my future team, even after the interviews were completed. I knew I had found the right place to work that valued building strong people connections.

What’s your favorite part about working at Enova?

A collaborative team environment, a people-focused culture and learning opportunities have been my favorite parts of working at Enova. My journey here has been filled with opportunities to steer my career in any direction I wanted with great support from leadership — whether it meant having open communication channels to discuss and collaboratively work toward career goals or having the autonomy to make decisions to deliver successful projects. Enova provides you a place to learn, grow and showcase your abilities.

What advice would you give to jobseekers looking to join your growing team?

My advice to job seekers looking to join Enova would be to learn as much as possible about the company before and during the recruiting process and understand how it aligns with their own preferences and goals. Enova has five values that guide us in everything we do; we live them day in and day out. Enova has great things to offer, including team culture, a people focus, learning opportunities and attractive perks. It’s driven by its values and is truly an awesome place to work!

In one memorable line, how would you describe day-to-day satisfaction on your team?

Being challenged and supported by people who push you to grow every day. As a “boomerang” employee, what drew me back to Enova and what keeps me here comes down to the people and the culture. The colleagues I’m surrounded by, from managers to peers to direct reports, are exceptionally sharp. They consistently challenge the way I think and push me to approach problems more creatively and rigorously. That kind of intellectual environment is rare.

Enova is also where I built the professional foundation I still rely on today. The fundamentals I learned here early in my career continue to serve me well, both inside and outside the company, which speaks to the quality of the work and the standards the team upholds.

What keeps me energized is that Enova doesn’t just talk about career development; the company follows through. I’m consistently given opportunities that stretch my skills and offer meaningful visibility across the organization. It’s a place that actively invests in its people, and that’s not something I take for granted.

Would you recommend working here — and what proof backs that up?

I’m a “boomerang” employee, and that choice wasn’t made lightly; it came after experiencing what other companies had to offer and ultimately, Enova came out ahead. What’s even more telling is that I’m not the only “boomerang” on my team. When multiple people independently choose the same company twice, that’s not coincidence — it’s a signal that Enova consistently holds up against alternatives.

That pattern is reinforced by employee tenure. A substantial portion of Enova’s workforce has been with the company for more than five years (my combined tenure is eight and a half). In an industry known for high turnover, that level of retention reflects something genuine: Enova doesn’t just attract talented people, but continues to earn their loyalty as it evolves. In 2025, 25 percent of hires were referrals or “boomerangs,” showing that not only do people want to come back, they want to bring in colleagues from their network. In our recent employee survey, 87 percent of employees recommend Enova as a great place to work. Enova has changed over the years but brings its people along, providing opportunities to grow with Enova at every stage, rather than leaving them behind. That’s harder than most realize, and it’s a big part of why people stay or come back!

How are you perceived externally right now, and what signals support that?

Every year, Enova is recognized on Great Places to Work lists, including Built In’s and ComputerWorld’s, but my own experience is still the most compelling to me, at least.

Before returning to Enova, I saw firsthand how valuable the skills I developed here are beyond the company. I was consistently recognized for the problem-solving, relationship management and project management skills I had built here. Enova had made me more valuable externally. That’s a meaningful data point: The skills and habits the company invests in developing actually hold up when tested against the broader market.

What stood out even more, though, was how people responded to my decision to return. In interviews, meetings and casual conversations, the “boomerang” story consistently surprised people and sparked genuine curiosity. In an industry where talent moves fast and companies struggle to retain people for even two or three years, the idea that someone would return says something that numbers alone can’t capture.

To me, that reaction is validation in its own right: Enova’s reputation for developing people and sustaining a strong culture speaks for itself — and stands out — externally.

Enova supported my career/growth with training when I started. In baseline, the training program for new software engineers, we were given the time to learn before joining a team. It was great to have dedicated time just focused on learning and getting acclimated to Enova before jumping into project work.

My job requires me to think about my work from many different angles, and often make decisions when there is no obvious 'right' answer. I really enjoy the opportunity of tackling new challenges and mastering different decision-making frameworks.

Enova is willing to take a chance on you. When I started at Enova I had very little formal experience, and since then I have had 3 very different roles in the company and have done things I wouldn't have imagined were possible for me!
