Unblocked, a Vancouver-based intelligence platform helping developers understand AI-generated code, has raised $20 million — equal to about $27.5 million CAD — in Series A funding, according to reporting by BetaKit. B Capital led the round, with participation from Radical Ventures, Artisanal Ventures and several angel investors. The company will use the funds to refine its core product.

Founded in 2021, Unblocked began as a tool to capture the intent behind developers’ past decisions. As AI-generated code became more common, the platform evolved to address the widening gap between code authorship and code comprehension. CEO Dennis Pilarinos told BetaKit that while AI can write syntax, it often omits the code reasoning and trade-offs, a challenge which Unblocked’s product is designed to tackle.

According to BetaKit, the company currently has fewer than 20 employees and plans to expand its team by 40 to 50 new hires across engineering, marketing and sales.
