The Wattpad WEBTOON Studios Legal department is seeking a temporary Contract Administrator for 4-6 months. This role will be crucial in supporting the rapid growth of the WWS business by overseeing contract management related to our entertainment, publishing and merchandising divisions, including drafting, contract review and analysis, info memos, data organization, status updates, execution processes, and administration. The Contract Administrator will also play a key role in financial tracking by handling IP-related invoicing, ensuring accurate legal operations, and assisting with rights management payments. Additionally, they will provide support on a range of legal projects, including compliance, audits, and data integrity, contributing to the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the legal team.
Please note this role is an independent contractor.
What you'll be doing:
- Manage full contract lifecycle for a variety of agreements, including drafting, reviewing, executing and internally distributing contracts related to intellectual property (IP) rights, licensing, and other legal matters
- Manage organizational solutions for the WWS Legal department, including tracking, prioritization and stakeholder management
- Support the development of internal workflows to standardize and scale contract drafting, review, execution, and administration, including but not limited to via contract management tools such as Ironclad and DocuSign
- Handle smaller agreement amendments, exercise/termination letters, etc.
- Support rights management efforts, including administration across acquisition agreements with Wattpad and WEBTOON creators
- Handle invoicing related to IP agreements and legal operations
- Support the WWS Legal department on ad-hoc projects related to compliance, internal audits, data integrity, and other legal matters as they arise
What we're looking for:
- 5+ years of experience as a paralegal or legal assistant, preferably in an entertainment/media/IP company, law firm, or corporate legal department.
- Paralegal Certificate from an accredited institution or strong experience as a law clerk
- Excellent contract drafting skills, familiarity with contract review and ability to create accurate summaries
- Established knowledge of contract management best practices and foundational understanding of IP and licensing contract structures
- Excellent research, analytical, and writing skills
- Proficiency in legal research tools, document management systems, and Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to work independently and as part of a team
Wattpad WEBTOON Studios is conducting all interviews in a distributed manner using applicable third party software where needed and using visual interface tools such as Google Hangouts and Zoom.
