About The Role

WEKA is seeking a seasoned Vice President of Legal to lead our legal function.  This is a high-impact, hands-on leadership role ideal for a pragmatic legal leader with deep commercial expertise and the agility to operate in a high-growth, rapidly evolving environment.

This role will be responsible for overseeing all legal matters at WEKA—from structuring complex commercial deals to navigating compliance in global markets and preparing for public company readiness. The ideal candidate will bring a blend of private and public company experience, a bias for action, and a passion for enabling business success through sound legal strategy.

What You’ll Be Working On

  • Serve as the primary legal advisor to WEKA’s executive team, providing strategic guidance across the business.
  • Lead all commercial legal matters globally, including:
    • Structuring and negotiating a wide range of agreements (reseller, OEM, CSP, ELA, strategic alliances, etc.)
    • Supporting enterprise customer and partner negotiations in collaboration with Sales, Finance, and Operations teams.
  • Build and scale WEKA’s legal function, including selecting and managing outside counsel.
  • Partner cross-functionally to ensure compliance with laws and regulations across key areas such as data privacy, employment, corporate governance, and securities law.
  • Support the company’s corporate governance and board processes.
  • Play a key role in preparing WEKA for IPO readiness and public company operations.

Qualifications

  • Proven track‑record as the senior‑most attorney for an organization— has previously led the entire legal function (e.g., VP Legal, General Counsel, Chief Legal Officer, Head of Legal) with full strategic, operational, budgetary, and people leadership responsibility rather than serving in a deputy or specialist capacity.
  • Extensive commercial legal experience in the enterprise software, cloud infrastructure, or related technology sectors.
  • Proven track record negotiating complex commercial deals (e.g., CSPs, OEMs, ELAs, reseller/partner agreements, etc.).
  • Experience supporting both private and public companies, ideally in a high-growth environment.
  • Deep understanding of regulatory and compliance issues relevant to a global tech company.
  • A strategic thinker with strong business acumen and the ability to operate as a true business partner.
  • Comfortable rolling up sleeves to build systems and processes from the ground up.
  • Exceptional communication, negotiation, and leadership skills.
  • JD degree and active license to practice in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
