About the Team
Cloudflare's Solutions Engineering (SE) organization partners closely with our Sales teams to help customers understand and adopt our platform. The SE team sits at the intersection of technology and business outcomes; guiding customers through discovery, demonstrations, solutioning, and validation.
Within this group, our Technical Validation Engineers (TVEs) play a key role in scaling presales technical engagement. This entry-level position is designed for technologists who want to grow their technical and customer-facing skills while supporting presales motions across a broad set of customers.

What You'll Do
  • Support presales conversations through technical discovery, product demonstrations, and solution walkthroughs.
  • Partner with Solutions Engineers and Sales to design solutions that align Cloudflare's capabilities with customer needs.
  • Assist in validation activities such as sandbox evaluations and proof-of-concepts.
  • Help build and maintain reusable demo environments, tools, and documentation.
  • Translate complex technical features into clear business outcomes for different audiences.
  • Continuously develop knowledge of Cloudflare products, Internet technologies, and industry trends.
Requirements
  • Foundational knowledge of Internet technologies (HTTP/S, DNS, TLS, APIs) and ability to explain them in simple terms.
  • Basic experience with a scripting or programming language (Python, JavaScript, Go, Bash); coursework, side projects, or open source all count.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to adapt explanations for technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Demonstrated curiosity and hands-on problem-solving ability; you like to experiment, tinker, and learn by doing.
  • Comfort working in a collaborative, customer-facing environment.
Nice to Have
  • Experience building or contributing to a web application, or open source community.
  • Exposure to Zero Trust, SASE, or serverless computing concepts
  • Familiarity with developer tools like REST APIs, CLI utilities, or browser web inspectors.
  • Understanding of common application security risks (CSRF, XSS, SQLi) and interest in defensive approaches.
  • Experience working with security, networking or cloud technologies.
