Summary of Position:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Technical Accounting Manager to join our dynamic accounting team. The successful candidate will play a key role in providing a holistic view of the Company’s commercial activities and acquisitions to allow management to be provided comfort that the Company’s strategies are implemented as expected. Additional this role will provide guidance on technical accounting matters, researching accounting issues, and implementing accounting policies and procedures to ensure accuracy and adherence to regulatory requirements. The Technical Accounting Manager collaborates with cross-functional teams to assess the impact of new accounting standards and provides recommendations to management.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
The following represents most of the duties performed by the position but is not meant to be all-inclusive nor prevent other duties from being assigned when necessary. Employees are expected to comply with all regulatory, environmental, and safety rules and standards, as well as corporate policies.
The Technical Accounting duties you will be responsible for include:
- Reviewing new and existing commercial agreements to determine and document the appropriate accounting treatment, ensuring alignment with the revenue function.
- Monitoring the subsequent accounting for complex revenue agreements to ensure compliance with the original accounting determination, including bifurcation for attributes identified in management’s assessment.
- Reviewing commercial lease agreements to determine and document the proper accounting treatment in accordance with ASC 606 and/or ASC 842.
- Reviewing acquisition agreements and managing the purchase price allocation process, including evaluating significance in accordance with SEC reporting guidelines.
- Managing the process of obtaining financial statements for acquired assets from third parties.
- Coordinating with third-party specialists for outsourced technical accounting matters and ad hoc projects assigned to external consultants.
- Maintaining a comprehensive listing of contractual obligations and calculating the amounts required for related financial disclosures, including maintaining current lease accounting software and assisting with potential new system implementations.
- Conducting and documenting annual technical assessments for goodwill impairment, fixed asset impairment, and other analyses as determined by management.
- Coordinating third-party valuation engagements and ensuring conclusions are aligned with applicable accounting guidance.
- Staying current on new accounting pronouncements and regulations, assessing their impact on financial reporting, and implementing necessary changes.
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams, including finance, legal, operations, and tax, to address accounting and reporting considerations for business transactions and strategic initiatives.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Have a Bachelor's and/or Master's in Accounting.
- CPA certification required.
- Must have 8+ years of industry-related progressive accounting with at least 4 years of recent technical accounting experience.
- Big Four public accounting experience of 6+ years within the oil and gas industry in lieu of 8+ years of industry experience.
- In-depth knowledge of US GAAP (business combinations, revenue recognition, and lease accounting are a plus), and other relevant accounting standards and regulations.
- Must have strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret complex accounting guidance and financial data.
- Must have excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively articulate technical concepts to non-financial stakeholders.
- Have a proven track record of driving process improvements and implementing best practices in accounting and financial reporting.
- Experience working with ERP systems (e.g., Workday) and proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other financial software applications are preferred.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
- This is a full-time position.
- Monday – Friday (8 hours) with flexibility to work from home on Fridays.
