The Role
We are seeking a Tax Senior Manager to support our Accounting Team. In this role, you will oversee the full scope of our tax function, including domestic and state tax compliance, planning, reporting, strategy, risk management, and controversy. We will count on you to maintain Cedar’s tax strategy and work cross-functionally with other departments and stakeholders both inside and outside the organization.

This is a role for someone who wants to make an immediate impact on Cedar’s financial functions, take ownership in regards to operating and improving processes, and continue to grow and expand their skill set with a high growth team.
Responsibilities
- Manage the Company’s income, franchise, business, property, sales and use, and other local taxes, as well as our tax licenses in all areas where we do business
- Provide strategic leadership and direct all aspects of the tax function including the establishment of tax policies, procedures, and controls, supervision and development of staff, and representation before taxing authorities
- Oversee the preparation of corporate tax returns and workpapers prepared internally and by third-party accounting firms for federal and state and local reporting obligations, inclusive of an annual R&D tax credit project
- Provide cross-functional support regarding sales tax methodology and positions, M&A and various tax impacts of one-off transactions, as necessary
- Oversee indirect tax calculation and compliance, with the assistance of consultants, covering client billing, client tax-exemptions, remittances, registrations, and taxability / nexus analyses
- Lead the annual tax provision process with respect to ASC 740 and evaluate the assumptions used and calculations of tax liabilities and assist with identification and quantification of FIN 48 (ASC 740-10) exposure
- Establish processes and procedures to ensure all taxes are accounted for and that the financial statements correctly present the impact of both non-income and income taxes, inclusive of the review of balance sheet reconciliations
- Develop and maintain various tax analytics to provide insight into future tax and compliance projections for use in budgeting, strategy, and cash flow planning
- Conduct detailed tax research and planning to remain informed of relevant tax regulatory developments, while thoroughly documenting and developing tax policies, procedures and methodology changes
- Manage and professionally develop one direct report
Requirements
- CPA License Required
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field
- 3 Years Public Accounting experience
- 3 Years People Management experience
- 10+ years of broad and progressive tax experience, preferably within a corporate tax department and public accounting
- Sales tax compliance experience
- MST/MSA is preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
- Experience with NetSuite ERP systems is a plus
- Highly organized and proactive with attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Cross collaborative - both internally across the organization and externally
Compensation Range and Benefits
- Salary/Hourly Rate Range*: $157,250 - $185,000
- This role is equity eligible
