Atlassian is looking for a talented Tax Manager with significant experience with the US R&D tax credit to join our Global Tax Team. Reporting into our Head of US Tax, this pivotal role will be instrumental in bringing our US R&D Tax Credit work in-house. You'll collaborate with teams all across Atlassian, from Engineering and Design to Product Management and Support, to identify and document activities and projects qualifying for the US R&D tax credit.

In this role you will:

  • Manage the preparation and documentation of US federal and state R&D tax credit claims
  • Collaborate with internal departments (e.g., Engineering, Design, Support, Product Management) to identify qualifying activities
  • Implement systems and processes to collect and maintain supporting documentation
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of tax laws and regulations related to R&D credits and monitor for changes
  • Provide support as needed for tax controversies that arise related to R&D credits


On your first day, we'll expect you to have:

  • CPA, and Master of Taxation or other advanced degree required
  • Minimum 6 years of experience in a combination of public accounting and/or corporate tax department
  • Significant experience conducting and documenting IRC Section 41 credit studies within the technology sector and defending R&D Credit claims under audit
  • Outstanding project management skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with internal teams and external auditors and advisors
  • Ownership mentality, intellectual curiosity, and an ability to thrive in a dynamic fast-paced environment


Compensation
At Atlassian, we strive to design equitable, explainable, and competitive compensation programs. To support this goal, the baseline of our range is higher than that of the typical market range, but in turn we expect to hire most candidates near this baseline. Base pay within the range is ultimately determined by a candidate's skills, expertise, or experience. In the United States, we have three geographic pay zones. For this role, our current base pay ranges for new hires in each zone are:
Zone A: $142,700 - $190,300
Zone B: $128,500 - $171,300
Zone C: $118,500 - $158,000
This role may also be eligible for benefits, bonuses, commissions, and equity.
