TALENT ACQUISITION SPECIALIST
Role Overview
We’re looking for a Talent Acquisition Specialist to help us attract, hire, and support exceptional people as we grow.
This role focuses on end-to-end recruiting across multiple teams, partnering with hiring managers to identify and bring great talent into the organization. Beyond recruiting, you’ll help strengthen the overall talent experience by improving hiring processes, supporting onboarding, and contributing to initiatives that enable employee success and growth.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys the intersection of people, systems, and problem solving – someone who cares about candidate experience, builds strong partnerships with managers, and is curious about how modern tools and technology can improve hiring practices.
You will work closely with hiring managers and the People & Culture team to ensure our hiring practices are thoughtful, effective, and aligned with our values.
What You’ll Do
Talent Acquisition (Primary Focus)
- Manage full-cycle recruitment from role scoping and sourcing through interviews, selection, and offer.
- Partner with hiring managers to define hiring needs and develop effective hiring strategies.
- Write compelling job postings and manage candidate pipelines across relevant sourcing channels.
- Create and maintain a strong talent pipeline through partnerships with universities, colleges, and trade institutions, building early access to emerging talent and future hires.
- Conduct candidate screening and structured interviews to assess experience and potential.
- Guide hiring managers through structured and fair selection processes.
- Ensure a thoughtful and professional candidate experience.
Hiring Process & Talent Operations
- Continuously improve recruiting workflows, templates, and hiring processes.
- Maintain and optimize our Applicant Tracking System (ATS) and candidate pipelines.
- Track and analyze hiring metrics such as pipeline health, time-to-fill, and candidate conversion.
- Identify bottlenecks or inefficiencies and recommend process improvements.
- Help build scalable hiring practices that support organizational growth.
Technology, Tools & AI in Talent
- Stay curious about new recruiting tools, technologies, and AI-assisted workflows.
- Introduce practical improvements that improve hiring efficiency and reduce administrative overhead.
- Support the evolution of a modern talent function that combines strong human judgment with effective systems and tools.
Onboarding & Employee Experience
- Partner with People & Culture to support a smooth and welcoming onboarding experience for new hires.
- Contribute to initiatives that strengthen employee experience, engagement, and development.
People & Culture Initiatives
Over time, this role may expand to work on initiatives such as:
- Career development frameworks
- Learning and development programs
- Internal mobility and talent growth
- Employee engagement initiatives
What You Bring
- 5+ years of experience in talent acquisition, recruiting, or HR with significant involvement in hiring.
- Experience managing full-cycle recruitment in a dynamic, evolving environment.
- Strong interviewing and candidate assessment skills.
- Ability to build strong relationships with hiring managers and act as a trusted partner.
- Familiarity with Canadian employment and human rights legislation related to hiring.
- Experience working with ATS platforms and recruitment data analysis.
- Excellent communication, organization, and coordination skills.
What Makes Someone Successful in This Role
- You care deeply about hiring great people and creating the conditions for them to grow, succeed, and do their best work.
- You bring structure and organization to hiring processes.
- You think like a builder, not just an operator, and enjoy improving systems and workflows.
- You’re curious about how technology and AI can enhance recruiting practices.
- You enjoy partnering with managers and helping teams make strong hiring decisions.
Why This Role Matters
Great hiring decisions shape the future of our company. In this role, you will directly influence who joins our team and how they succeed once they’re here. Your work will help ensure we hire thoughtfully, support new employees effectively, and continue building a workplace where talented people can grow and do their best work.
