Job Summary
As a Systems Architect, you will report to the Senior Systems Architect, and are typically assigned to the most critical and strategic undertakings. This role requires an expertise in Linux systems engineering to create innovative solutions for an industry that merges digital storytelling with high-performance computing. You will be involved in engineering and large-scale systems administration projects, which include the installation, configuration, and support of servers, workstations, and extensive storage environments. This position offers the chance to contribute to technically complex initiatives within a creative environment of skilled artists and engineers as we develop a high-performance global digital workflow.
Education, Qualifications and Experience
Formal Education
- Bachelor’s degree, with a preference for Computer Science, Engineering or other technical degree.
Primary areas of responsibility will include:
- Operate within a team environment to translate organizational goals & strategic objectives into technical architecture plans, ensuring that all developed solutions maintain a competitive edge within the Animation and Visual Effects industry.
- Research, design, develop and enhance the hardware and software solutions to meet technical & creative requirements for the organization's state-of-the-art production environment.
- Deploy new system features or functionality without interruption to production schedules.
- Ensure that relevant technical strategies, policies, standards and practices (including security) are applied correctly.
- Provide technical leadership to project teams during development and deployment phases, while offering guidance and mentorship to diverse stakeholder groups.
- Collaborate with Management in evaluating systems, applications, and developing systems standards.
- Promote and "evangelize" innovative concepts, technologies, and solutions across diverse audiences to foster adoption and consensus.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation regarding the implementation of technological solutions.
- Establish a handover process for completed projects to assure operationalization of the technology.
Experience:
- 10+ years of progressively complex experience, with proven leadership and technical skills in IT infrastructure, preferably in a media-related industry.
- Experience with large-scale and distributed systems.
- Extensive experience with heterogeneous operating systems and computing/networking environments: Linux, Windows and Mac.
- Experience with virtualization, cloud computing, and DevOps.
- Experience with developing infrastructure as code.
- Experience with Python programming and scripting languages.
- Experience with advanced networking media, protocols and topologies.
- Experience with developing industry-leading functionality for production systems.
- Experience working in the Animation and Visual Effects industry.

Location and Work Model
- This is a Hybrid role in Vancouver, BC.
The anticipated base salary for this position is $175,000.00 - $225,000.00/annually CAD. Benefits are per company policy: which include healthcare, tuition reimbursement, RRSP's, Sick and Vacation leave, standard increases as applicable. The actual base salary offered will depend on a variety of factors, including without limitation, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, the location of the position.
