The IT Systems Administrator will install, configure, and maintain engineering systems, focusing on stability, security, automation, and support.
Job Description
BAE Systems is seeking a highly skilled Systems Administrator to analyze, diagnose and resolve issues with complex engineering systems used to modernize or upgrade existing systems. The position is responsible for the functionality and compatibility of systems in both test and production environments. The candidate must demonstrate a strong focus on automation, continuous improvement, and regular operations and maintenance.
The ideal candidate should have 5+ years of experience with System Administration and support and have a proven track record of ensuring applications stability, performance, and security, while driving process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce downtime. The candidate should be a self-starter where some assignments are often self-initiated, have excellent communication skills and work seamlessly in a team environment as well as independently.
Required Education, Experience, & Skills
Experience as a systems administrator including management, maintenance, configuration, and optimization in a high-availability environment.
Experience in following processes and procedures to standardize Application installations and configuration, ensuring consistency and best practices.
Experience automating, scripting, and streamlining processes using Unix shell scripting or other scripting tools to improve efficiency and accuracy.
Strong experience with UNIX environments including Red Hat Linux operating systems.
UNIX scripting skills to automate compliance controls and other maintenance activity.
Demonstrated ability to work independently and proactively, with a "can-do" attitude and a resourceful approach to problem-solving.
Demonstrated ability to communicate and work effectively with customers and stakeholders.
Experience with patch management, ensuring application compliance security and stability.
Experience monitoring alert logs, OEM, and system alerts, with the ability to act on results.
Willingness to participate in rotational 24 x 7 on-call Production support, ensuring timely resolution of production issues.
Cloud computing: Understanding of cloud computing concepts, including infrastructure as a service (IaaS), platform as a service (PaaS), and software as a service (SaaS).
Cloud Infrastructure: Knowledge of cloud infrastructure, including virtual machines, storage, networking, and security.
API fundamentals: Understand the basics of APIs, including REST, SOAP, and GraphQL.
API design: API design principles, including API security, scalability, and performance.
API management: Understand API management concepts, including API gateways, security, and monitoring.
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
• Experience administrating Enterprise level PLM or PDM systems such as PTC Windchill or Dassault 3D Experience.
• Experience supporting Digital Engineering transformation.
o Programming languages: Familiarity with multiple programming languages, such as Java, Python, C#, or Node.js. to enable automation using AI and ML.
o Containerization: Familiarity with containerization technologies, such as Docker, Kubernetes, or Red Hat OpenShift.
o Microservices architecture: Good understanding to manage and orchestrate containerized applications.

Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $96623 - $164259
Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
