The Applied Machine Learning (AML) group at Redfin works towards redefining real estate in the customer’s favor using machine learning. We work on foundational problems in the real estate space including recommendations (“Where should I live”) and price estimation (“How much is a home worth”). We have real estate data at a national level and work across various domains in machine learning using large-scale multi-modal property data (documents, images, text, video, 3D scans etc.). AML also owns and maintains end-to-end production-grade large-scale machine learning infrastructure and systems serving hundreds of millions of consumers.
As a Senior Software Engineer for the Applied Machine Learning Team, your job is to define and own the application architecture that delivers high-volume, high-scale ML products to Redfin’s customers. Your domain will include Python applications transforming data for batch and real-time purposes, as well as developing and operating APIs that serve Redfin's models and related business logic. You will work with an experienced group of machine learning engineers and researchers with robust research to production culture. This is a role for a backend expert: you'll do everything from data at rest through to packaging API results for the web or streaming out to other teams at Redfin. But you won't have to write CSS. :)

You will work on Redfin’s machine learning platform creating new data pipelines and tooling to help scale our solutions for the #1 brokerage website for 2024, with 7x the traffic of our next closest brokerage competitor

You'll build products and tools that drive some of the company's most critical metrics and impact revenue growth. We are helping create the best possible home buying or selling experience, one feature at a time.

You will assist with debugging and recovery when incidents arise.

You will drive team efficiency improvements and share your learnings with other engineers across Redfin.

You will keep our systems up to date with current best practices and tooling, including monitoring, logging, and deployment tooling.
Who You Are:
-
You have 5+ years of experience in Software or Systems Development
-
You have demonstrable experience designing, building, monitoring and operating robust, scalable back-end cloud infrastructure that efficiently processes millions of records per minute.

Python development experience in a large or complex application, Service Observability, public cloud deployment experience (AWS, Azure or GCP)

Specifically, you have extensive production experience with large high-complexity python services used by millions of users and own the full lifecycle of Tier 1 API's

You are a thought leader able to identify solutions to difficult problems and lead these solutions to implementation

You have a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer or Electrical Engineering, or equivalent work experience

Participate in an on-call rotation, providing timely support (approximately one week every 4-5 weeks).

The compensation information below is provided in compliance with all applicable disclosure requirements.
Base Pay Range: $146,500.00 - 198,000.00. Actual base pay will depend on varying circumstances, including the position, location, individual qualifications, market finances, and other operational business needs. Compensation may also include bonuses and equity.
