We are currently seeking candidates located within 60 miles of any of the listed hubs to foster more in-person connections while maintaining our flexible remote culture.



About This Position

The Senior Manager, Tax Planning will be responsible for leading tax planning at both the corporate and project partnership level. This position will work extensively with other departments including Capital Markets, Transactional Legal, Corporate Legal, Policy, and Procurement Teams. This position will support all teams in numerous areas of tax, including tax credits and incentives, partnership taxation, tax structuring, and analysis of new and proposed tax legislation. This position will report directly to the VP, Tax and will also work closely with outside counsel and accounting firms. 


Overview of Department

The Intersect tax team is expanding and we are looking to add a dedicated role to support transactional work, identify planning opportunities, and analyze changes to tax laws. The tax team serves two primary functions for the company: 1) managing the tax compliance and financial reporting and 2) working across the Company on the structuring and analysis of transactions. This provides the tax team with visibility into many strategic aspects of the Company.  

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Work with the Tax Reporting and Compliance team to manage corporate tax forecasts and identify and implement tax planning opportunities
  • Support the Capital Markets team and external counsel in the structuring of tax equity partnerships, drafting and negotiation of deal documents, reviewing models, and supporting diligence and structuring
  • Work closely with the Policy team to monitor changes in tax laws and regulations and effectively communicate impact to executives and relevant internal stakeholders
  • Support the Procurement team in drafting of supplier agreements and negotiating tax requirements
  • Support Development and Capital Markets teams on tax assumptions included in project and financial models and opportunities to increase tax efficiencies

Qualifications and Skills

  • MST, J.D. or LLM with 5+ years of experience at a large multinational corporation or law/public accounting firms
  • Knowledge of partnership rules under Subchapter K and U.S. consolidated income tax rules
  • Experience in power and utility / renewable energy industry is strongly preferred
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills to effectively communicate complex tax matters with executive leadership
  • Self-starter - willing to work independently, proactively, and collaboratively across the Company

Physical and Sensory Requirements

  • Mostly sedentary work; using standard office equipment including: a computer, keyboard, and telephone. 
  • Position is part of a remote team, with regular electronic and video communication
  • Position requires 4x per year  travel for company-wide meetups across US & Canada and regional meetings as needed by department.

  • Salary: $150,000 - $160,000USD base salary with 25-30% annual target bonus
