What This Role Is About

The Senior Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE) is a senior, client-facing technical expert who serves as a true strategic partner for our most complex and high-value accounts. This is not a sprint; it's a marathon. This role is for the "marathon runner and a strategist" - an individual motivated by solving deep, intricate challenges and building unshakable, long-term relationships. You will be the primary technical advocate for the client, often "embedded" within their environment to ensure they extract maximum value from the RapidSOS platform.

You are a patient, proactive, and consultative guide. You will help clients navigate their most ambitious technical "moonshot" projects, architecting and co-developing novel solutions that have never been built before. Your success is measured not by tickets closed, but by the long-term success, adoption, and expansion of the client partnership you foster.

What You’ll Do
  • Act as the primary, embedded technical owner and trusted advisor for a portfolio of strategic clients, building deep, long-term relationships from the engineer level to the C-suite.
  • Develop unparalleled technical mastery of both the RapidSOS intelligent safety platform and your client's specific, complex technical ecosystem.
  • Lead complex diagnostic sessions, using elite listening skills to identify the root cause of technical challenges, not just the symptoms.
  • Architect, design, and co-develop novel solutions to solve unique client challenges, turning ambitious "moonshot" ideas into reality.
  • Move beyond reactive support by proactively analyzing client systems, anticipating future needs, and developing a strategic technical roadmap for long-term success.
  • Build and maintain deep trust through patience, empathy, and savvy political navigation of complex client organizations.
  • Identify and scope new expansion opportunities from your position of trust, demonstrating how RapidSOS can deliver further value to grow the account.
  • Serve as the client's technical advocate within RapidSOS, collaborating with Product, Engineering, and other internal teams to ensure their needs are met and their voice is heard.
What We’re Looking For in Our Ideal Candidate
  • Strong Technical Background: At least 5+ years of relevant experience in an engineering role with at least 3+ of those years in a technical customer-facing role. 
  • Pre-sales Experience: Selling complex API-based products or SaaS products including technical discovery, presenting demos, etc. 
  • Cloud Knowledge: Familiarity with a cloud platform (AWS, GCP, Azure) in a SaaS environment.
  • A Marathon Runner and a Strategist: You are patient, proactive, and motivated by the long-term pursuit of solving complex, deep challenges. You value building trusted, enduring relationships over quick wins.
  • Deep Technical Mastery: You have a "specialist" and "perfectionist" mindset. You possess the desire and proven ability to go incredibly deep, mastering both our platform and the client's complex environment.
  • Consultative & Diagnostic Mindset: You are an elite problem-solver. You are an exceptional listener who is wired to diagnose the root cause of a problem, not just treat the symptoms.
  • High Emotional Intelligence (EQ): You are a natural relationship-builder. You are patient, empathetic, and politically savvy. Your primary skill is earning and maintaining long-term trust.
  • Proactive & Strategic: You don't wait for tickets. You are always thinking ahead, anticipating the client's future needs, and proactively guiding the account's technical roadmap.
  • Creative Systems Architect: You are genuinely excited by a "moonshot" challenge. You love architecting and co-developing novel, high-value solutions that have never been built before.
  • Commercial/Expansion Focus: You understand how to grow an account by delivering value first. From your position of trust, you can naturally identify and scope new expansion opportunities.
  • Customer-First Mentality: You are genuinely customer-obsessed. You are comfortable being "embedded" and acting as the client's technical advocate, ensuring their long-term success and adoption.
  • Travel Flexibility: Ability to travel 50%-70% of the time

Starting pay for a successful applicant will depend on a variety of job-related factors, which may include experience, relevant skills, training, education, location, business needs, or market demands. The salary range for this role is $140,000 - 165,000 with a potential OTE of $182,000 to $215,000.  This role will also be eligible to receive equity options.
