Job Description

Who You’ll Work With

Arista Networks is aggressively expanding its campus portfolio and Wi-Fi is one of the key focus areas. To be able to take Arista Wi-Fi to its next level, we are seeking an experienced, dynamic and hands-on engineer for our Vancouver location, who can collaborate with the existing SysTest teams based out of India. You will work with software development engineers, hardware engineers, field support engineers, product managers, and software test engineers to analyse customer requirements and use cases, gather technical details, create software test plans, and validate that the product meets our customer’s requirements.  You will also work with our customer support and engineering teams to help address escalated customer issues by reproducing, and debugging those in the lab.

What You’ll Do

As we expand our Wi-Fi into campuses with diverse & complex deployments, varied use case scenarios and mission critical requirements, there will be a constant need for doing things differently and in a unique way. We are looking for an engineer who will help establish our rock solid quality in campuses and enterprises with Wi-Fi products and thus help expand the customer base. The engineer will have a lot of varied responsibilities, ranging from solution based feature/functionality testing to handling customer deployment issues or escalations.

  • Understand the Arista WiFi cloud architecture, its components, and related products. 
  • Work with software development, test engineers and field support engineers to gather technical requirements, participate in functional specification and software design reviews, and validate that the product meets our customers’ requirements. 
  • “Own” the feature and product; be the subject matter expert for your deliverables.
  • Be the first point of contact for field escalations. Reproduce the issue locally and drive them to a resolution by coordinating with Account, TAC, SysTest & Development teams.
  • Build and maintain Wi-Fi labs. The person will be responsible for designing & deploying complex networks that mimic customer environments.
  • Test out end to end solutions that encompass wired and wireless deployments. 
  • Interop testing between Arista APs and enterprise grade Clients and custom Wi-Fi equipment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s/Master's degree in Electrical, Electronics, Computer Science, IT or a related field. 
  • 5 - 15 years of experience in troubleshooting wired or wireless networks and debugging complex software; experience with cloud and virtualization technologies a plus. 
  • Knowledge with hands-on experience of the following Wi-Fi technologies is mandatory.
  • RF and L1 intricacies
  • WiFi6E, WiFi6, WiFi5
  • Features developed on top of underlying WiFi. For e.g. Tunneling data path traffic.
  • Hands on experience with designing and implementing Wi-Fi labs at scale.
  • Strong troubleshooting and debugging skills
  • Proven expertise in creating test methodologies and writing test plans. 
  • Solid knowledge of networking fundamentals across the OSI stack is a must. 
  • Strong knowledge with Linux systems and networking tools.
  • Experience with working on complex deployments, handling customer escalations, debugging live network issues would be required.
  • Basic knowledge of RESTful APIs, JSON, and SQL would be an added advantage.
  • Excellent written and oral English communication skills. 

Additional Information

The new hire base pay for this role has a pay range of $95,000 to $145,000. Arista offers different pay ranges based on work location, so that we can offer consistent and competitive pay appropriate to the market. The actual base pay offered will be based on a wide range of factors, including skills, qualifications, relevant experience, and work location.

The pay range provided reflects base pay only and in addition certain roles may also be eligible for discretionary Arista bonuses and equity. Employees in Sales roles are eligible to participate in Arista’s Sales Incentive Plan, which pays commissions calculated as a percentage of eligible sales. Employees are also entitled to benefits including medical, dental, vision, wellbeing, income protection and a Group Retirement Savings Plan. The recruiting team can share more details during the hiring process specific to the role and location.
