About the Role
We are looking to hire a Software Engineer In Data intern to join our growing Data team for the Winter 2026 term. As a Software Engineer In Data at Super.com, your work will span from application development and maintenance to our post production enterprise data warehouse, ensuring a congruent flow. You will own, build, maintain, and enhance processes to ensure this end to end reliability.
Key Challenges
- Ship technically challenging projects end-to-end in a fast-paced, iterative environment
- Have the opportunity to very meaningfully propel the business forward, and recognize the impact of your work on the company’s business metrics
- Own features, services, caches, and databases, including: deployment, monitoring, debugging, and testing
- Write production-ready, well-tested code in your first week
- Work on our product analytics backend service and our data pipelines
- Be an ambassador for our data-driven culture, taking data and shaping it to facilitate analysis, insight generation, and decision-making
- You will ingest, clean, validate, and organize raw data in a way that makes sense for both product and analysis
- You will help shape data strategies between systems within the organization to ensure consistent and predictable consumption
- You will work with key stakeholders to understand existing processes and collaborate to design and implement improved and automated processes
About You
- You have at least 8 months of backend development work experience, preferably with exposure to a dynamic, startup or scaleup environment
- You have a good understanding of relational databases and working with SQL
- You learn quickly, regardless of the languages and technologies used
- You have experience taking ownership and shipping entire features end-to-end
- You thrive on decoding intricate problems with logical, well-reasoned solutions
- You are interested in working with ETL/ELT tools and building data pipelines
- You are interested in working with Python on the backend
- You are interested in designing schemas and data modelling
Our Tech
- We use a state of the art architecture powered by microservices written primarily in Python (FastAPI). We use Postgres for our relational database. For transparency, we use React for the frontend but for this role, it will be seldomly be used.
- We use Gitlab for version control and CI/CD, and our infrastructure is hosted on AWS (using Kubernetes). It takes under 30 minutes for merged code to reach production
- We invest heavily in monitoring and automated alerting using Datadog for application monitoring, Elementary for data monitoring, and BigEye for data freshness.
- We use Amplitude client-side metrics and experimentation, Snowflake for our data warehouse, and Airflow for building data pipelines.
