With teams across five countries, three continents, and a global customer base, we have no plans to slow down.

The Role

GeoComply is looking for a Senior Technical Writer. In this role, you’ll work with Product Managers and Software Engineers to write and maintain SDK and API documentation for a software engineering audience. You’ll also work with our support teams, collecting customer feedback to help you enhance your content.

We’ve just built a modern developer portal with lightweight, efficient documentation tools. With little legacy technology to get in your way, you can focus on writing great documentation that solves our customers' challenges. This role is an opportunity to make a lasting difference, but as a solo Technical Writer, you’ll need to be self-driven and execute complex documentation projects on your own.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create and maintain the content repository and information architecture.
  • Develop and implement processes and procedures for creating and maintaining technical documentation with branding and style guidelines.
  • Collaborate with product development teams to obtain information and ensure accurate and up-to-date documentation.
  • Create, edit, and review technical documentation, including user manuals, online help, release notes, and other documentation as required.
  • Utilize Markdown, GitHub, and docs-as-code workflows to author and manage documentation within the developer portal.
  • Structure content effectively using a strong understanding of information architecture principles to optimize search and navigation within the documentation.
  • Write clear and concise code samples in various programming languages (e.g., Kotlin, Java, Swift) to illustrate API usage and functionality.
  • Contribute to the ongoing maintenance and improvement of the developer portal, leveraging tools like Docusaurus.
  • Proactively identify opportunities to enhance the developer experience through documentation and actively seek ways to improve content quality and effectiveness.
  • Stay up-to-date on industry best practices and emerging trends in technical writing and API documentation.

Who You Are

  • 5-10 years of experience writing technical documentation, with at least three years supporting a software engineering audience specifically. You should understand the nuances and challenges of software engineering and be comfortable operating as part of a build team, but it’s unnecessary to be a software engineer yourself.
  • Flawless American English.
  • Experience writing documentation with Markdown.
  • Experience with GitHub and docs-as-code.
  • Experience with Docusaurus or other static site generators.
  • Experience with Jira and Confluence.
  • Experience reading and writing code samples in at least one language, like Kotlin, Java, Swift, Objective-C, C#, PHP, Python, or JavaScript.
  • Strong understanding of the principles of information architecture and how people interact with information on the web. You should be able to structure large information sets effectively so people can find the answers they need through search and navigation.
  • The ability to learn new things quickly and turn complex information into meaningful documentation.

Bonus Points

  • Strong understanding of HTML, CSS, and React.
  • Experience with Google Analytics, Hotjar, LogRocket, or similar performance monitoring tools.
  • A background in compliance, anti-fraud, or geolocation
