McLaren Trefanenko Inc. (MTI) is a well-established and growing Chartered Professional Accounting firm in New Westminster. For over 40 years, we have proudly served clients across British Columbia.

We combine the stability of a long-standing practice with the innovation of a modern, fully paperless office. Our team embraces technology to work smarter, not harder—giving you more time to focus on building relationships and delivering meaningful client results.

About You

You are passionate about tax preparation and enjoy the variety of working with both individuals and businesses. You have proven expertise in Personal (T1), Corporate (T2), and Estate (T3) tax returns, and you bring a strong background in bookkeeping, financial statement preparation, and compilation engagements.

You thrive in a dynamic environment, adapt quickly to challenges, and take pride in delivering high-quality, client-ready work. Colleagues describe you as self-driven, detail-oriented, and a team player who contributes to a positive workplace culture.

While an accounting designation (CPA) is an asset, it is not required. What matters most is your commitment to accuracy, problem-solving, client service, and professional growth.

You’re looking for more than just a job—you want a place where you can build lasting client relationships, expand your skills, and be part of a team that values both your expertise and your well-being.

  • Communicating with the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) on client matters
  • Coordinating and managing projects to ensure deadlines are met
  • Contributing to a culture of teamwork, mentorship, and knowledge-sharing

Tools You’ll Work With

  • QuickBooks Online
  • CaseWare / CaseView / Jazz-IT
  • TaxCycle
  • PayWorks
  • Dext
  • Microsoft Office 365 & Teams
  • Document Management Systems

What We Offer

We want you to thrive at MTI. Here’s how we support that:

  • Competitive compensation with growth potential
  • Extended health benefits
  • RRSP matching contributions
  • Paid sick leave and generous vacation policies
  • Professional development support – CPA exam fees, PD allowances, and mentorship opportunities
  • Flexible work arrangements (including hybrid options)
  • Work-life balance initiatives, such as reduced summer hours

Additional Information

Final candidates will be asked to complete standard reference and background checks.
