Sonatus is a leader in providing technologies and software to global OEMs to build software-defined vehicles. We are looking for a highly motivated Senior Staff Embedded AI Engineer to join our fast-growing team. As a part of a cross-functional team that is responsible for the full software development life cycle, you will have the opportunity to work on cutting-edge technologies and products, from conception to deployment.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Product Development: Develop and deliver highly performant, secure, and efficient AI products on embedded devices, ensuring they meet rigorous performance and quality standards.
- Innovation and Research: Conduct research and experimental development on cutting-edge AI optimization to improve resource efficiency.
- Product Alignment: Work closely with and offer technical suggestions to the Product team in defining the AI product requirements.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Engage with business development and go-to-market teams to understand client requirements and develop customized, impactful solutions.
- Stakeholder Communication: Clearly articulate complex AI concepts and solutions to non-technical stakeholders, promoting understanding and alignment.
- Documentation: Establish and maintain comprehensive documentation for AI products, including functional specifications, software architecture specifications, and user guides.
- Mentorship: Provide guidance and mentorship to junior engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and technical excellence.
Qualifications and Experience
- Master or PhD degree in Computer Science or related field
- 8+ years of professional software development experience.
- Proven experience as a Tech Lead or Staff Engineer in software development
- Strong leadership and mentoring skills, with the ability to inspire and guide a team of engineers
- Successfully launched an AI product that generated significant ARR. Familiar with end-to-end AI product lifecycles
- Strong proficiency in C++
- Deep understanding of ML models, especially models running on embedded devices with limited resources
- Specialized in at least one type of models, e.g. image recognition, NLP, and/or models in automotive space
- Deep understanding in model optimization
- Solid experience in Linux based multithreading and IPC framework
- Experience with the prominent GenAI models
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
Desired Skills and Experience
- Familiarity with Rust
- Experience with embedded systems and automotive communication protocols (e.g., CAN) is a plus.
- Experience with automotive product development (e.g. CAN, AUTOSAR, FreeRTOS, UDS, etc.).
- Experience in project management and agile development methodologies.
- Built models in automotive space, e.g. BMS, Tire wear calibration, Camera-based object recognition
