Senior Product Engineer (Growth Team)About Hubstaff

At Hubstaff, our mission is to empower people to have their most productive workday. We do this by providing the industry-leading workforce analytics and time tracking platform for remote and distributed teams.

We've been fully remote for over a decade—long before it became a trend—and we continue to believe that remote work represents the most significant shift in the modern workplace since the advent of the PC. Our platform helps more than 200,000 global users track time, gain visibility into work, manage schedules, and automate payments with transparency and accountability at its core.

We're a product-led company with a winning culture, strong momentum, and a long-term vision: to become an essential part of every remote company's tech stack. And we're just getting started.

The Role

We're hiring a Senior Product Engineer to join our Growth Team at Hubstaff. This is a full-time (40 hrs/week), remote position with long-term potential.

The Growth Team sits at the intersection of Product, Design, Data, and Engineering. Our mission is to improve customer acquisition, activation, engagement, retention, and expansion through experimentation, rapid iteration, and continuous product improvement.

You'll play a key role in building customer-facing experiences that directly impact product adoption, user engagement, and business outcomes. Working closely with product managers, designers, developers, and data stakeholders, you'll help identify opportunities, ship improvements, and measure results.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys owning features end-to-end, working across both frontend and backend systems, collaborating closely with Product and Design, and connecting technical decisions to customer and business outcomes.

What You'll Do
  • Build customer-facing features using Ruby on Rails, PostgreSQL, and modern frontend technologies such as Vue.js, Hotwire, and Tailwind CSS.

  • Brainstorm, ideate, theorize and discuss solutions for achieving real business impact with small but high-impact product changes.

  • Implement experiments at speed, cutting scope ruthlessly, looking for the fastest way to answer the hypothesis.

  • Drive and own initiatives from idea through implementation to measurement, with license to make decisions that speed up or improve learning.

  • Work autonomously, but collaboratively, partnered with engineers, product and design, communicating proactively on risk and opportunities.

  • Employ metrics, A/B tests, fake doors, customer outreach, technology research and more to guide product and technical decisions.

What You Should Have
  • Strong professional experience with Ruby on Rails.

  • Strong PostgreSQL fundamentals.

  • Strong product mindset and customer empathy.

  • Ability to clearly explain the business impact of projects you've worked on.

  • High level of ownership, autonomy, and accountability.

  • A determination to build fast, ship soon and tweak later.

  • Experience building and maintaining customer-facing web applications.

  • Experience working across both frontend and backend systems.

  • Experience collaborating closely with Product, Design, and Engineering teams.

  • Experience working remotely and asynchronously with distributed teams.

  • Excellent communication skills in a remote-first environment.

Nice to Have
  • Experience with Vue.js.

  • Experience with Hotwire (Turbo + Stimulus).

  • Tailwind CSS experience.

  • SaaS product experience.

  • Product analytics experience.

  • Experimentation tooling (e.g. statsig, customer.io)

  • Experience running and evaluating product experiments and A/B testing.

  • Experience using AI-assisted development tools.

  • Instinct for delivering business impact and outcome-oriented mindset.

  • Previous experience in startup or high-growth SaaS companies.

Why You'll Love Working with Us
  • A remote-first culture built on trust, autonomy, and async collaboration.

  • Opportunities to directly influence product strategy, customer experience, and business outcomes.

  • High ownership environment with minimal bureaucracy.

  • A collaborative, supportive product and engineering culture.

  • Long-term product focus — build something you can truly invest in over time.

  • Competitive compensation for top talent.
