The key function of the Senior Software Engineer 2 is to leverage deep technical knowledge and experience to design, build, and maintain advanced, game-agnostic systems and tools. This role focuses on developing robust editor and runtime solutions that drive high performance and enable optimized workflows across all game teams, leveraging automation, AI, and other advanced technologies to improve efficiency, scalability, and the overall robustness of our products, ensuring our games perform reliably and deliver high-quality experiences to players.
This role is a full-time, on-site position based 5 days a week at our Downtown Vancouver studio.
In this role, you can expect to:
- Architect and build complex software development, from design to debugging, ensuring high-quality, maintainable code.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define technical specifications and deliver large-scale solutions.
- Advise and enforce coding standards and best practices.
- Drive software improvement through iterative processes.
- Architect intricate software systems, selecting appropriate technologies and ensuring scalability, performance, security, and maintainability.
- Lead troubleshooting efforts, identifying root causes and implementing effective solutions.
- Oversee testing and verification to meet functional and non-functional requirements.
- Facilitate cross-functional collaboration with product managers, designers, and engineers.
- Lead meetings, discussions, and code reviews to ensure code quality.
- Promote documentation of software designs, code, and technical processes.
- Mentor and guide other engineers, sharing knowledge and providing constructive feedback.
- Conduct performance analysis and profiling to identify areas for optimization in the game.
- Optimize rendering pipelines, animations, and interactions to improve overall game performance.
- Troubleshoot and resolve performance-related issues in the game, including profiling, memory, CPU, run-time, and load-time issues.
- Use profiling tools and techniques to identify performance bottlenecks and areas for improvement.
- Analyze and optimize memory usage to address memory-related issues and improve overall performance.
- Design and build end-to-end automated systems to proactively monitor and ensure game health, performance, and overall product integrity.
- Identify opportunities to enhance the automation pipeline as a first line of defense, enabling early detection of regressions and maintaining consistent game quality.

To be successful in this role, your background includes:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
- Expert-level experience with C#, Node.js or C++.
- 7+ years of experience in software development, preferably in gaming.
- 1+ years of experience leading a team.
- Shipped multiple releases on Console, PC, or Mobile.
- Professional proficiency with multiple game engines, or proven ability to pick-up new ones.
- Ability to write clean, simple, well-documented code from design requirements.
- Proven track record of working independently and collaboratively in a dynamic team setting.
- Experience in Android / iOS Mobile application development.
- Up-to-date knowledge on the latest mobile gaming trends.
- Ability to effectively communicate with technical and non-technical team members.
- Experience working in Agile, Kanban, or similar project management methodologies.
- Experience in Profiling on any game platform (Mobile, iOS, Android, PC, Consoles).
- Knowledge in how to deal with platform/device specific issues.
- A problem-solver with a keen eye for identify areas of improvement.
