Reporting to the Director of Sales (DOS), the Senior Sales and Events Manager assists in overseeing the Conference Services team and designated Sales Managers and respective markets. This individual oversees strategic plans to bring business to both the Hotel and the Resort, identifies new business and expands existing business opportunities to develop increased sales. This role will assist the Director of Sales in working directly with the team on business opportunities and developing long-term strategic goals. This role will focus on Conference Services standards and deliverables and Sales Team strategic plans and revenue goals. This position is currently full-time based at the Sun Peaks Grand Hotel; hybrid option can be considered.

Compensation Information: $80,000 per annum

Physical Requirement: Medium; work activities involve handling loads up to 20kg; predominantly in an indoor setting.

This job position requires physical presence at the designated location; potential for hybrid.

Skills you bring with you:

  • Minimum 3 years of proven sales leadership experience in a similar or related role
  • Post-secondary education in Hotel Sales, Hospitality, or related field of study is considered an asset
  • Conference Services and Events management/supervisory experience required
  • Experience with Hotel software systems
  • Results oriented with background in analytics and performance metrics monitoring
  • Proven ability to develop and execute strategic plans
  • Excellent communication and copy writing skills in varied written and verbal mediums
  • Effective leader, problem solver, and decision maker
  • Relationship management background with industry stakeholders, vendors, and agencies
  • Thrive in a team environment and embrace collaboration across varied platforms
  • Extremely organized and detail oriented
  • Knowledge of the Hotel & Resort product and current competitive environment is considered an asset
  • A passion for outdoor recreation: ski, snowboard, bike and golf all considered assets
  • Holds a valid driver’s license

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Actively represents the leadership team within the hotel operations team and supports/represents the DOS while off property to ensure seamless leadership presence throughout the hotel.
  • Assists the DOS in guiding the revenue goals of the hotel and department.
  • Maintains regular communication with the Sales Team, collaborating on team reaching their revenue goals.
  • Oversee the sales team’s coordination of events, ensuring the guest experience drives customer loyalty by delivering an elevated experience.
  • Act as an ambassador of the Sun Peaks Grand Hotel and Sun Peaks Resort with the ability to promote internal and external events.
  • Some weekend and evening work may be required.

Team Management and Support Development:

  • Assist Director of Sales with overseeing conference services and sales team members.
  • Responsible for overseeing the success of individual sales team plans and members.
  • Responsible for Conference Services team SOP creation and overall daily management.
  • Work with Director on overall sales strategy, in line with hotel goals, to ensure that revenue, reputation and market share goals are achieved, and results are monitored.
  • Propose sales plans and special programs that drive measurable, incremental occupancy; increase average rates; increase business volume during off-peak periods and increase meetings and event sales.
  • Identify new markets and business opportunities to increase sales and overall revenue for the hotel.
  • Maintain database, contact information, activity and business details.
  • Update action plans, financial objectives quarterly, implement all sales actions related to market areas as outlined in marketing/sales plan, etc.
  • Be aware and in contact with comp set counterparts.
  • Conduct weekly sales meetings and one-on-one meetings with team.

Lead Conference Services:

  • Assist DOS in leading and supporting conference team.
  • Create new SOP (Standard Operating Procedures) for Conference Service deliverables.
  • Attend BEO Meetings, Food and Beverage scheduled meetings.
  • Liaise with Director of F&B, Executive Chef, and multiple hotel and resort partners to ensure successful events.
  • Create monthly revenue goals and incentive plan for CSM’s.
  • Identify new ways of increasing sales and incremental revenue.
  • Oversee the yielding of event business.
  • Assist with site inspections.
  • Assist with group event planning.
  • Provide prompt and timely responses and immediate communication to develop long-term business relationships.
  • Follow up on business leads within a 24-hour response time.
  • Customize and support the administrative aspect of business booked, proposals, contracts, and client correspondence.

Lead Sales Team:

  • Assist DOS in leading and supporting sales team.
  • Overall daily sales team supervision.
  • Review Team action plans and align with overall hotel revenue objectives.
  • Conduct weekly sales meetings and one-on-one meetings to ensure activities are aligned with goals.
  • Review current sales markets to ensure activities are correlated with business bookings.
  • Collaborate with the sales team to grow and develop new accounts and markets.
  • Attend revenue and group meetings.
  • Attend and represent Sun Peaks Grand in various networking opportunities.
