Lantern is seeking a Senior QA Functional Automation Engineer to join our innovative healthcare technology team. As a key member of our R&D scrum team, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the quality and reliability of our web, mobile, and backend applications.
In this role, you will apply your deep expertise in software testing, automation frameworks, and quality engineering practices to build scalable, maintainable test solutions. You'll work closely with Product Managers, Developers, and Engineering Leaders to establish and enforce best practices, modernize our testing approach, and drive comprehensive test coverage across all layers of our healthcare platform.
Responsibilities
· Lead end-to-end functional, regression, and integration testing for healthcare applications, including workflows for eligibility, enrollment, authorization, and claims (837P/I, 835, 270/271, 276/277).
· Design, develop, and maintain robust UI and API automation frameworks using Java, Selenium WebDriver, TestNG/JUnit, Postman, and REST-assured.
· Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps, GitHub, Jenkins/GitLab, and utilize BrowserStack for cross-browser and mobile compatibility testing.
· Perform detailed EDI X12 transaction validations ensuring HIPAA/HIFA compliance and adherence to healthcare data standards.
· Conduct backend database testing with complex SQL queries to validate member eligibility, claims processing, provider data, and case status.
· Execute API testing for claims submission, eligibility checks, and care coordination using RESTful APIs, HL7, and FHIR standards.
· Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including developers, analysts, and product owners—to define test strategies and ensure comprehensive test coverage.
· Validate integration points with payer systems, clearinghouses (e.g., Availity, Change Healthcare), and provider portals for seamless data exchange.
· Identify, log, and manage defects using JIRA or Azure DevOps, supporting root cause analysis and driving timely resolution.
· Participate in Agile ceremonies such as sprint planning, standups, retrospectives, and contribute to release readiness activities.
Experience:
· Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Health Information Management, or a related field.
· 5+ years of QA experience in healthcare systems, preferably involving case management, claims processing and member services,
· Strong hands-on experience in functional, database, and API testing.
· Experience with Selenium (Java) for UI automation and Postman/REST-assured for API testing.
· Strong SQL skills for validating member data, case activities, and claims-related records.
· Good knowledge of X12 EDI formats (270/271, 837P/I, 835) is a plus.
· Familiarity with clinical data standards (HL7, FHIR) is a plus.
· Excellent communication, test documentation, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
Strong Candidates will have:
· Experience automating QA for web, and mobile platforms using Java, Selenium, and API testing frameworks.

· Strong collaboration experience within Agile scrum teams, participating in daily standups, sprint planning, retrospectives, and owning QA deliverables from backlog to release.
· Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to contribute to test strategy, root cause analysis, and continuous quality improvement.
