The Quality Assurance team owns the testing process, risk management, and quality evaluation of all products and functions across Epic. Our team works closely with developers and production to ensure the best possible user experience for our community and customers.
What You'll DoEpic Games is seeking a Senior QA Engineer to serve as a key quality owner within a cross-functional development strike team, focused on Shooter products. This role will partner closely with Designers, Engineers, and Producers to plan and execute test strategies, drive deep investigations, and develop tools or automation to elevate quality standards. The position emphasizes ownership of performance testing and data metrics, requiring a proactive, solutions-oriented mindset and strong experience in QA best practices.
In this role, you will- Collaborate with Producers, and QA Management to define performance benchmarks, identify risk areas, and plan test coverage for upcoming features and releases
- Coordinate performance testing efforts across distributed teams, vendors, and partners to ensure high-quality, optimized player experiences across platforms, while also supporting smaller more technical features across the project
- Develop performance test strategies that incorporate automation, profiling tools, and stress/load scenarios to validate system responsiveness in a dynamic development environment.
- Ensure that game performance—frame rate, latency, load times, and overall stability—meets player expectations consistently across updates, while maintaining positive user experience for all features
- Leverage manual, technical, and automated testing skills to execute various performance, functional, and ad hoc testing techniques, including regression and scalability testing
- Analyze and troubleshoot issues using debugging tools, telemetry, logs, and profiling data to identify root causes and validate fixes
- Track, document, and report metrics to drive cross-functional discussions and support decisions around game health and optimization.
- 3+ years of software testing experience in fast-paced, live service environments with frequent updates and iteration
- Strong understanding of QA processes, test methodologies, and agile/reactive development practices
- Experience creating comprehensive test plans covering both functional and non-functional requirements
- Technical familiarity with web, mobile, XR, backend systems, and microservice-based infrastructures
- Experience with game engines and 3D toolsets, especially Unreal Engine ⅘
- Proficient in at least one programming language: C++, C#, or Python
- Capable of testing performance, scalability, reliability, and integration with complex APIs
- Skilled in coordinating test efforts across geographically distributed teams, vendors, and agencies
- Familiar with tools like Jira, SmartSheets, and G Suite
- Able to track and report quality metrics to drive data-informed quality improvements
