Job Description

AECOM Transit & Rail is seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager, Transit & Rail to join our team based out of Burnaby, BC. Featuring a flexible hybrid work arrangement and a wealth of growth opportunities, you’ll become part of Canada’s largest rail consulting team. In this role you will be fostering our existing relationships with transit and freight rail clients, and developing new client relationships, through high quality project delivery.

 

Job Duties May Include:

  • Provide engineering, technical, and management guidance to the Rail Group.

  • Liaise with multiple disciplines and departments, including Track & Civil, Bridge & Structures, Water Resources, Environment, Public Works, and Signals & Communications.

  • Demonstrate excellent communication skills and willingness to get involved in planning, design, and construction as projects dictate.

  • Act as the Project Manager, or assist other Project Managers, and take leadership in pursuing a balance of safety, quality, schedule, and budget.

  • Lead preparation of proposals, design packages, technical specifications, and tender documentation.

  • Have a hands-on role in developing practical design and construction solutions.

  • Chair meetings with clients, contractors, and others for project delivery and business development.

  • Act as a technical resource for less experienced team members in both office and field settings.

  • Provide P.Eng. sign-off on designs and reports.

  • Maintain a strong knowledge of client, industry and regulatory requirements.

  • Provide supervision and mentorship to less experienced team members, and strive to grow AECOM’s team.

  • Work independently with minimal guidance except for complex and unusual situations. 

 

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • BSc in Civil Engineering + 8 years of transit &/or freight rail design & construction experience, or equivalent.

  • P.Eng. designation.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills (English).

Preferred Requirements

  • 15+ years of freight rail and/or LRT experience.

  • 15+ years of civil linear infrastructure design experience.

  • 5+ years as a Project Manager.

  • Strong understanding of AREMA & Class I Railway standards.

  • Familiarity with CN, CPKC, BNSF, Shortlines, Translink, Calgary Transit, Edmonton Transit, or similar.

  • Willingness for periodic site visits.

  • Bilingual (English primary, French secondary).
