About the Role
Cover Genius runs Cancel For Any Reason (CFAR) as an embedded insurance product, already live with multiple partners and expanding to more partners and markets. As Senior Product Manager - Flex, you'll take what we've learned from running these first programs and build the platform, processes, and partner experience needed to run CFAR across many partners, geographies, and underwriters — with strong data discipline and a high bar for operational rigor.
This is also a rare chance to build a truly customer-friendly insurance product — one that pays out with zero claims forms, receipts, or proof of loss required, which is how customers actually expect insurance to work. You'll get hands-on with the algorithms, agents, and machine learning that drive performance, while also shaping the partner-facing reporting and customer-facing benefits that make the product tangible and trustworthy.
This is a scale-up role for an existing product. CFAR is live and has strong partner interest, and you'll design the automation, monitoring, and partner-facing systems that let it scale with the same discipline it launched with. You'll work across data science, engineering, pricing/actuarial, and partner commercial teams to decide what should be automated within agreed guardrails, what benefits from a human in the loop, and how partners see and stay confident in the numbers behind their program.
The scope of this role will expand as we add partners and programs. We're looking for someone who can bring rigorous structure to a fast-growing platform, and who treats every new partner as a chance to make the shared system smarter — not just to ship one more integration.
Key Responsibilities:
Own the CFAR program management platform
Design and prioritize the roadmap for a shared data layer, alerting engine, and partner configuration model that lets Cover Genius run many CFAR programs from common infrastructure, rather than rebuilding bespoke logic for every partner.
Build tiered automation across data health, monitoring, and pricing
Drive the platform through its layers of maturity: integration health checks that validate data integrity before it feeds any monitoring or pricing decision, monitoring and alerting that watches claims rate, loss ratio, and volume for drift and spikes, and pricing intelligence that recommends — and eventually auto-applies — repricing within agreed bands once a segment has enough data to support it.
Define the partner configuration model
Determine which dimensions of a CFAR program are genuinely partner-specific — pricing bands, loss buffers, settlement mechanism, claim eligibility windows, risk profile — versus shared platform logic, so the system flexes to a partner's economics without becoming bespoke and unmaintainable.
Make partner performance transparent and easy to trust
Own how partners see their own program's performance: dashboards, reporting cadence, and the narrative behind a repricing recommendation, so partners stay confident in the numbers as more of the process becomes automated.
Turn program learnings into reusable platform logic
Capture the usage and performance patterns that emerge as CFAR programs mature — how factors like channel, trip length, or timing relate to outcomes — and turn them into generalized detection and configuration logic, so insights from one program strengthen every future one rather than staying a one-off fix.
Partner with actuarial, data science, and engineering on the model lifecycle
Work closely with pricing/actuarial and data science on how claims-rate confidence, segment thresholds, and pricing recommendations are calculated and validated, and with engineering on what's feasible to automate safely at each stage of platform maturity.
Skills and Experience:
5+ years of product management experience, including ownership of a data-intensive or algorithmically-driven product in production — ideally one with real financial or risk exposure attached to its decisions.
Strong SQL and data fluency: you can pull your own analysis, validate a data pipeline before trusting its output, and build a business case from raw numbers.
Experience designing monitoring, alerting, or automated decisioning systems with clear guardrails — knowing what to automate, what to escalate, and how to earn trust in that transition.
Comfort operating across commercial, technical, and actuarial stakeholders — equally at home in a conversation with a partner's commercial team and with an engineer debugging a data join.
A track record of turning a single working example into a scalable, configurable platform — recognizing what's genuinely partner-specific versus what should be shared infrastructure.
Excellent written and verbal communication — you can make a loss ratio trend or an escalation framework legible to both an engineer and an external partner.
Bonus points:
Experience with embedded insurance, B2B2C platforms, or marketplace dynamics is a strong plus.
Direct experience with insurance, risk, or loss-ratio-driven products (embedded insurance, claims, underwriting-adjacent systems) — you're comfortable with concepts like loss ratio, pricing bands, and claims triage without translation.
Proficiencies and Attributes:
Driven, energetic, and a "good enough is not enough" mentality.
Strong sense of ownership over all aspects of the product.
Sense of urgency in addressing issues.
Excellent attention to detail.
Result-driven with a focus on achieving measurable outcomes.
Ability to work effectively under pressure.
Strong organizational and time management skills.
Positive approach to change and adaptability.
