Ameresco Canada has an immediate opening for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to support Canada.

Responsibilities:

  • Working autonomously on multiple projects given broad objectives from Director of Engineering
  • Provide mentorship to junior and intermediate mechanical engineers.
  • Develop conceptual design strategies, assess, and complete detailed HVAC design of green energy concepts such as heat pumps.
  • Develop building automation systems points lists and control sequences
  • Audit existing building mechanical systems and prepare technical write-ups documenting existing conditions for design briefs and studies.
  • Provide technical support to internal departments including Marketing and Business Development.
  • Prepare technical specifications for RFQs and construction tenders
  • Work within budget and schedule guidelines
  • Perform site inspections and provide direction to contractors during the construction process Commission retrofitted or new building systems
  • Preparing operations and maintenance manuals
  • Providing training to customer staff regarding the improvements made to the facilities
  • Work and present information professionally to customers as necessary
  • Other responsibilities as required by direct manager

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 8 years of relevant mechanical/HVAC/plumbing design experience in North America.
  • Mechanical Engineering Degree
  • The candidate must present professionally to clients of Ameresco Canada.
  • Canadian Citizenship or Landed Immigrant Status.
  • Valid Provincial Driver's License.

Additional Qualifications:

  • Possession of or working towards Professional Engineering Designation (P.Eng) in BC.
  • Hydronic heating and cooling systems, DX and VRF cooling systems, Building automation and control systems; knowledge of instrumentation and measurement equipment.
  • Detailed knowledge of mechanical and plumbing codes.
  • AutoCAD and MS Office programs including proficiency with Excel.
  • Motivated and detail oriented.
  • Candidate must be capable of working autonomously within the team environment and asking for support and guidance as required.
  • Candidate must also enjoy the challenge of troubleshooting and problem solving in a technical setting.
  • Must have strong knowledge and experience with building HVAC and building automation systems.
  • Must be willing to travel to project sites throughout Western Canada.
