The Senior Manager is responsible for creating positive team member experiences, which lead to excellent client service and drives revenue and profit for the Firm. The ideal candidate with have strong analytical, negotiating and problem-solving skills, coupled with good people skills. The successful candidate will be effective with client development as well as oversight of a team as it relates to review, training, researching issues and completing detailed and more complex valuation, litigation and consulting assignments. Duties and responsibilities, as they align to Ryan’s Key Results
People:
• Create a positive team member experience;
• Provide regular feedback and support to team members;
• Ensure compliance with company policies and managing employee relation issues with professionalism and sensitivity.
Client:
• Responds to client inquiries.
Value:
• Helps to build the team around him; works with a team of consultants/senior consultants on valuation and litigation/expropriation files;
• Manages client quotes, is responsible for client contract term, scope and service and fees for valuation and litigation assignments;
• Provides oversight with the team to complete the assignment;
• Manages client billings and ensures timely collection of receivables (less than 90 days);
• Attends hearings, settlement conferences and negotiations through settlement.
• Demonstrates superior knowledge in valuation techniques for complex assignments, client industry expertise
• Supervises and provides guidance to team and acts as mentor to new Managers;
• Ensures the team that reports to them is compliant with Firm policies, practice guidelines, and standards;
• Gives timely performance feedback to team members and addresses, documents, and escalates performance issues;
• Ensures workload is property distributed among team members and holds team members accountable for completion of
assigned projects;
• Actively involved in business development of new clients, maintaining existing clients, and focusing on cross selling efforts;
• Participates actively in professional organizations and seeking speaking opportunities and writing articles to build eminence;
• Performs other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
• University Degree, College Diploma, or equivalent in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Economics, Real Estate, Business Management or other degree with MBA, MST or JD required and at least seven years property valuation and related experience required.
* Litigation/expropriation experience an asset
• Candidates with appropriate valuation designations preferred.
• Demonstrated leadership, problem solving, and strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to prioritize tasks, work on multiple assignments, and manage ambiguity.
Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must have intermediate knowledge of Microsoft® Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, AI, and Internet navigation and research.
Certificates and Licenses:
Valid driver’s license required. Manager should maintain professional designations such as the Appraisal Institute of Canada P.App, AACI, or equivalent, and keep active in professional organizations on a local and national level.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
This position directly supervises employees in the Property Tax practice and carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the Firm's policies and applicable laws.
