Job Description:

At Remitly, we believe everyone deserves the freedom to access, move, and manage their money wherever life takes them. Since 2011, we've tirelessly delivered on our promise to customers sending money globally, providing secure, simple, and reliable ways to manage their money, ensuring true peace of mind. Whether it's supporting loved ones back home, growing a business across continents, or pursuing new opportunities abroad, we're not just here to move money— we're here to move our global customers forward.
We're looking for builders, reimaginers, and global thinkers who want to work at the intersection of technology, trust, and transformation. If that's you and you're ready to do the most meaningful work of your career—we invite you to join over 2,800 passionate Remitlians worldwide who are united by our vision to transform lives with trusted financial services that transcend borders.

About the Role:

The Senior Manager, Fraud Strategy, New Initiatives will be part of Remitly's Identity & Trust organization, reporting to the Director, Fraud Strategy. You will lead a team of technical program managers and data analysts who set the fraud control requirements for Remitly's new initiatives: new products, payment methods, and new ways for customers to start a transaction. You will own those requirements from the first risk assessment through control delivery and ongoing maintenance, so that each initiative launches with the right protections and can mature onto Remitly's shared fraud services. This work sits within Remitly's Transaction Integrity program, which spans fraud, scams, and promotion abuse.

This is a high-impact role for a leader who is comfortable with ambiguity, works across many teams at once, and balances loss prevention with a smooth experience for good customers. You will work closely with product, engineering, compliance, legal, and operations teams, along with internal teams that are integrating into Remitly's shared fraud services. You will join a team that uses artificial intelligence and automation in its daily work, and we expect you to push that further.

You Will:

  • Lead and develop a team of technical program managers and fraud data analysts, providing coaching, clear feedback, and career development, and encouraging team members to work across disciplines.
  • Own fraud control requirements for new initiatives from initial risk assessment through control delivery and maintenance, including success metrics, launch readiness, and the handoff to long-term operations as initiatives mature.
  • Work with product, engineering, compliance, legal, and operations teams early in the planning of new products, payment methods, and customer origination channels, so that fraud controls are designed before launch.
  • Act as the entry point for internal teams that are building on Remitly's shared fraud services. Assess their needs, define integration and control requirements, and decide when to extend shared capabilities and when to build something new.
  • Prioritize the team's work across competing launches and partners, make trade-offs clearly, and tell stakeholders what the team will not be doing.
  • Partner with analytics to design experiments and evaluate control performance, and turn the findings into clear recommendations for senior leaders.
  • Lead the response when a new initiative faces a fraud incident, including root cause analysis and long-term fixes. This role requires the ability to work outside business hours on occasion when an incident calls for it.
  • Communicate risk, trade-offs, and recommendations to executive leadership, and take part in launch and risk acceptance decisions.

You Have:

  • 8 or more years of strategic experience in the fraud and risk domain, with a track record of defining and delivering strategy that drives company-level outcomes.
  • At least 3 years of experience managing people.
  • Direct experience designing fraud control requirements for new products, payment methods, or channel launches, from risk assessment through control delivery.
  • Deep expertise in fraud detection and prevention, including rule design, model implementation, tooling evaluation, and control lifecycle management.
  • Hands-on experience building with AI and using it in 'multiplayer mode' across a team.
  • Comfort evaluating technical proposals and analyses, working with fraud risk data, experiments, and operational metrics, and bridging technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong cross-functional leadership, including influencing stakeholders without direct authority and tailoring communication from engineering teams to executive leadership across global time zones.
  • A background in payments, fintech, or remittance is strongly preferred.
  • Financial crimes certifications, such as CFE or CFCS, are a plus.
  • Bachelor's degree in business, risk management, a quantitative field, or equivalent experience.
