Our Canadian operation, Canaccord Genuity Corp., is currently looking for a motivated self-starter with superior accounting knowledge, excellent organizational skills and the ability to multi-task, to join our Finance team in Toronto. This position reports directly to the Senior Vice President, Strategy and Financial Analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Manage, facilitate and coordinate specialized projects relating to strategic planning and financial analysis, management reporting, and public reporting.
  • Work closely with senior management and business unit heads to provide financial insight and reports in connection with special projects and ad-hoc analysis.
  • Prepare monthly operating reports for management including development and analysis of performance metrics and review of budget variances.
  • Develop and maintain analytical reports/dashboard using Power BI/Power Query.
  • Manage the corporate cost allocation model and analyze its impact on the business units.
  • Review and analysis of monthly/quarterly P&L and Balance Sheet and providing commentaries.
  • Perform & review various account reconciliations and posting accounting entries.
  • Prepare and maintain group budgets, forecasts, capital plans and cash flow projections.
  • Complete reports and projects in accordance with established policies and guidelines accurately, timely and efficiently.
  • Proactively seek continuous enhancement in internal controls over financial transactions, management and financial reporting.
  • Be a key asset within the Finance team, with proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Power Point, Power BI and various systems and applications.
  • Work closely with IT, Risk, Operations, Legal, HR and other support service functions.
  • Ad-hoc analysis and support as requested by management.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Recognized accounting designation with a minimum of 8 years’ experience in a finance role in a large organization.
  • Experience in a Finance/Accounting role at a broker-dealer firm will be preferred.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel, Power Point and Power BI skills are essential.
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task, meet deadlines and work under pressure.
  • An effective ability to collect, organize, analyze and circulate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to interact independently and effectively with all levels of the organization.
  • Self-motivated with a focus on driving results and strong sense of accountability.
  •  Demonstrated ability to take initiative and utilize resources provided, autonomously.
  • Experience with Dataphile accounting software is an asset.
