Working in close partnership with Marketing, People & Culture, and business leaders across the organization, you will lead the development of internal communication strategies, channels, and content that bring our culture blueprint and strategic narrative to life.

This role includes leadership of a small team and requires both strategic thinking and hands-on execution.

What you’ll be doing:

Strategic communications leadership
  • Lead the development and execution of enterprise internal communications strategies aligned to Central 1’s business priorities, transformation initiatives, and culture blueprint

  • Develop and maintain a clear, compelling strategic narrative that is consistently woven across internal channels, leadership communications, and employee touchpoints

  • Provide trusted counsel to senior leaders on internal communications approaches, messaging, and employee engagement strategies

  • Anticipate employee information needs and sentiment, ensuring proactive, transparent, and timely communication

Employee experience & engagement
  • Ensure communications meaningfully support employee understanding, connection, and pride in working at Central 1

  • Partner with People & Culture and Marketing to develop and amplify a strong, authentic employer brand and employee value proposition

  • Support leaders in effectively communicating with their teams through messaging frameworks, toolkits, and guidance

  • Contribute to initiatives that strengthen culture, engagement, and organizational alignment during periods of change

Channel strategy & content excellence
  • Oversee and continuously improve internal communication channels (e.g., intranet, newsletters, leadership updates, town halls) to ensure effectiveness, usability, and reach

  • Establish best practices, standards, and editorial governance across internal communications

  • Ensure content is clear, consistent, and aligned with Central 1’s brand and voice

  • Balance efficiency with impact—streamlining channels and approaches while improving reach and engagement

Collaboration & stakeholder partnership
  • Work cross-functionally with Marketing, External & Client Communications, People & Culture, and other internal partners to ensure aligned and coordinated messaging

  • Lead and contribute to cross-functional initiatives and projects that require integrated communications support

  • Act as a key connector across teams to ensure employees receive consistent and coordinated information

Team leadership
  • Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing internal communications team member

  • Foster a collaborative, accountable, and continuous improvement-oriented team environment

  • Set clear objectives, provide feedback, and support ongoing professional development

What you’ll have

  • Post-secondary education in Communications, Journalism, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 10+ years of progressively senior experience in internal or corporate communications
  • A senior level of certification or accreditation, preferred SCMP, ABC or APR.
  • Significant change management / change communications experience. Prosci certification is an asset.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and executing internal communications strategies in complex organizations
  • Exceptional storytelling ability, with strength in translating business strategy into clear, engaging, employee-focused messaging
  • Experience managing communication channels and driving continuous improvement in reach and effectiveness
  • Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills, with the ability to build relationships across all levels of the organization
  • Experience working collaboratively with HR/People & Culture and Marketing teams
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
  • High emotional intelligence, sound judgment, and the ability to navigate sensitive or confidential issues
  • A collaborative, proactive and solutions-oriented mindset aligned with Central 1’s values

Salary range: $110,000-$135,000
