About the role

Reporting to the Head of Brand Marketing, you will join the Marketing Team and lead our earned media strategy to accelerate Felix’s brand growth. As a Communications Manager at Felix, you will be responsible for planning and executing a holistic earned media strategy that help us protect and promote Felix’s position as a leader in on-demand treatment for everyday health in Canada. You will lead our PR communications, and media relations to build brand stories designed to earn attention, coverage and conversation. You will lead earned influencer engagement by identifying, recruiting, and nurturing influencers through events, incentives, and relationship-building efforts, inspiring them to create and share content while encouraging new advocates for the brand. You will also play a critical role in our internal communications to evangelize our brand principles across the company. You Will

  • Develop, implement and manage earned media programs that create exciting news in consumer and industry press. These programs will support marketing campaigns, category launches, events, calendar opportunities, influencer engagement and issues management.

  • Understand the healthcare landscape in Canada and leverage audience trends to tell stories on behalf of Felix that drive brand awareness and positive association 

  • Be accountable for the success of all communications, influencers & PR programs through planning, prioritizing, and executing on multiple projects at once

  • Uncover compelling brand & product narratives that elevate the brand by mining for data and insights working in strong collaboration with cross-functional teams (Product, Medical, CX, Operations).

  • Partner with brand, performance, and creative teams to craft earned media strategies that enhance integrated marketing efforts.

  • Beyond consumer-first narratives, develop and implement issues management strategies to minimize and manage risks to Felix, including risk assessment, media evaluation and standing up crisis teams as needed. 

  • Work with reporters proactively and reactively to be their go to person for addressing any communication inquiries or issues 

  • Foster and maintain strong relationships with media to generate impactful coverage

  • Collaborate with external influencers to produce engaging content that amplifies Felix’s brand positioning.

  • Foster strong cross functional relationships with partners, influencers, media and industry.

  • Take a lead role in internal communications while working closely with the HR team (e.g. all hands, company events, etc) 

You Are:

  • Someone who believes that modern earned media is part consumer marketing channel,  where we promote consumer awareness, interest and build brand credibility,  and part issues management where we protect the brand from negative exposure and sentiment.

  • A relationship builder who can develop a rolodex of healthcare media, content creators and influencer contacts.

  • A creative storyteller who can mine insights, hunt for narratives and turn them into culturally relevant stories externally.

  • A seasoned communications expert with experience in crisis tactics and messaging 

  • Curious about the world of virtual healthcare and how it can help Canadians live healthier lives. 

  • A problem solver who thinks outside the box.

  • A self starter who knows how to influence without authority

You Have:

  • Minimum of 10 years experience in public relations gained in startups, scale-ups, agencies in the health sector, or technology-driven organizations with digitally DTC based operations. 

  • Experience with the Healthcare industry in Canada 

  • In-depth knowledge and understanding of social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, X/Twitter, YouTube, LinkedIn, etc.) and how they intersect with traditional media.

  • Excellent relationship building skills with internal and external stakeholders.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple priorities.

  • Strong news and strategy judgment and ability to execute quickly.

  • Self-motivated, fast learner, and strategic thinker; able to achieve high impact in a fast-paced or ambiguous environment.

Nice to Haves:

  • Bachelor’s degree in public relations, communications, journalism, marketing or a related field.

  • Experience in crisis management and internal communications
