Position Purpose: Manages experienced teams in the automation of secure software builds, test and deployment systems, and infrastructure. Manages multiple development, test, staging, and demo environments (code deployment using CI/CD pipelines, backups, data refreshes), as well as deploys and manages software in production environment while leveraging automation. Continually advances the technology in a collaborative and creative agile environment using the latest technologies and industry best practices to deliver solutions which meet business objectives more effectively. Incorporates security into development builds, and creates a "security as code" culture that prioritizes delivery of secure services as a core characteristic.

  • Establishes the strategic direction of security engineering projects to meet departmental requirements
  • Advises on the control and monitoring of software security controls to effectively safeguard sensitive information
  • Manages the evaluation and development a flexible security approach to business solutions.
  • Makes decisions on recommendations for security enhancements and communicates decisions to senior leadership
  • Proactively assesses potential items of risk and develops mitigation strategies of vulnerability in the network
  • Collaborates with other engineering and architecture counterparts to develop security solutions to meet the needs of internal and external stakeholders
  • Proactively partners and communicates with IT and Product stakeholders to achieve security goals and stakeholder business goals.
  • Drives strategic point of view for security solutions, considering the impact of new technologies (cloud, mobility, virtualization), and business drivers (M&A, new business models)
  • Manages teams responsible for the research, evaluation, design, testing, recommendation, planning or implementation of new or updated security technologies, tools and services. Analyzes their impact on the existing, and if applicable, target environment.
  • Directs and prioritizes strategic relationships with other business units, including IT, Legal, Finance, Audit, and others.
  • Recommends and advises on changes to security controls and business application solutions.
  • Analyzes and defines security requirements for networks and systems
  • Manages the hiring and training of new and existing staff, conducts performance / salary reviews, and provides leadership, technical guidance and coaching
  • Shares knowledge and develops staff capabilities to strengthen understanding of business issues and best practices
  • Develops and communicates departmental objectives; inspires and motivates team members to achieve results
  • Performs other duties as assigned
  • Complies with all policies and standards

Education/Experience: Requires a Bachelor's degree and 6+ years of related experience, including prior management experience.
Or equivalent experience acquired through accomplishments of applicable knowledge, duties, scope and skill reflective of the level of this position.
Technical Skills:

  • One or more of the following skills are desired.
  • Experience with one or more of the following Other: Linux or Windows, Docker, Kubernetes, SQL/NoSQL Databases and CI/CD tools
  • Experience with Other: scripting languages and automation tools such as Ansible
  • Experience with Other: infrastructure-as-code tooling such as Terraform or CloudFormation
  • Knowledge of Other: large-scale Front-End architecture and data-driven development
  • Knowledge of Other: Knowledge of security concepts and secure coding practices
  • Experience with Other: Experience with vendor support for troubleshooting and installations.

Pay Range: $119,100.00 - $220,500.00 per year

Centene offers a comprehensive benefits package including: competitive pay, health insurance, 401K and stock purchase plans, tuition reimbursement, paid time off plus holidays, and a flexible approach to work with remote, hybrid, field or office work schedules.  Actual pay will be adjusted based on an individual's skills, experience, education, and other job-related factors permitted by law.  Total compensation may also include additional forms of incentives.
